At Magic Words, our therapy team have a 6 week summer break - here are some highlights of what we got up to!

🔫 Samee visited James Bond Island and went ziplining in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
🌊 Daria had a trip to Albania, visiting Ksamil and The Blue Eye in Albania.
⛺ Frankie went camping in Devon and was in heaven because she got to swim in the sea everyday!
🛶 Katie went kayaking in Cornwall.
🎢 Amna had an adventure in Germany with her children.
🥾 Laura went camping and walked the Cornish coast path (enjoying some scones along the way!)
🐘 Tessa visited an ethical elephant sanctuary in Thailand and went to an Aussie Rules Football match in Perth.
⛰️ Emma with her family on Cairngorm mountain in Aviemore, Scotland and outside their caravan in Weymouth.
🏄‍♀️ Kristie did some paddleboarding on Lake Annecy in France, and went to the beach with family in Tenby.
🦣 Laraib took a trip to Roman Baths in Bath and went to the zoo.
🧀 Heidi visited Cheddar Gorge caves and sampled lots of cheese, plus resource planning for the term ahead!

🗺️ Create your own treasure trail while building communication skills! Turn a family day out into a speech and language adventure by making your own treasure hunt near you - just like we did in Stony Stratford!

🔍 Observation – Ask your child to describe what they see (“What colour is that door?”).
🧩 Clues – Tailor it to their ability level (“Find something that rhymes with car”).
💬 Conversation – Encourage storytelling (“Who would live in this castle?”).
👣 Instructions – Practice multi-step directions (“Walk 10 steps, turn left, then find something green”).

⭐ Adapt the activity for any age or goal - vocabulary, sequencing, turn-taking, or just meaningful chats!

Summer-themed Speech & Language BINGO ⭐

Practicing little and often can be key to progress! Create a custom bingo grid and assign daily challenges that target your child's speech, language and communication needs. Select a square at random each day to complete!

⭐ Top Tip: Add this to your little one's after school or bedtime routine for more consistent and effective support!

SaLT Apprentice Hannah Ash took a trip to the zoo and turned it into a language learning adventure for her children! 🐫🐧🐒

Use her speech and language tips to develop communication skills in a fun, engaging way. You could apply these tips whilst at the zoo, the supermarket, or even from home!

“When I first heard it again, I felt like crying. It’s a kind of miracle.” – Sarah Ezekiel, who lost her speech to MND, describes hearing her own voice again after 25 years.
