More sound evidence that exercise, particularly group or supervised exercise, is a very effective treatment for depression, especially for women. Obviously it has other health benefits too...😀

A large, pooled analysis finds supervised group exercise works best for depression, while shorter, lower-intensity activity has strong benefits for anxiety.

We all love some evidence based advice, and here is another epiphany. Apparently, sweetened drinks are not good for us...and artificially sweetened ones are even worse, but a fantastic dietary choice if you want to explore the delights of non alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Both sugar-sweetened and diet drinks raise the risk for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, with artificial sweeteners linked to an even greater risk.

Brilliant. Apparently being married is likely to make you fat. You learn something every day...So, strict diet and loads of exercise to counteract the side effects of marriage then.

A Polish health survey found that being married increased risk of overweight in women and men, with the latter group also experiencing three times the risk of obesity.

I have nagged so many of my patients about the benefits of water based workouts, and here is some evidence...Great if you have dodgy feet, knees and hips. Rock and roll!😀

More worrying news about tattoos, after the recent paper that found an increase in lymphomas in tattooed people, and now there is evidence of significant bacterial contamination of the inks as well. I think I might cancel the monstrous, old norse motif I had planned for my whole head then.

Tattoo ink tested from different manufacturers are contaminated with aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, including possibly pathogenic microorganisms, warn investigators.

Living with this, I am. More depressing evidence that social media( which paradoxically I am using to spread this gospel ) and screen use is no good for our kids' brain development. I thought of the cattle prod to change things in my own household, but found that this was apparently illegal nowadays.🤠
