🌟 You Know Your Child Best

Always seek medical help if you are worried about your child's symptoms, or if their ‘super bodies’ need extra support because they are immunosuppressed or have other medical conditions.

🛡️ Keeping Antibiotics Working for Those Who Need Them

Common childhood illnesses—such as coughs, sore throats, and earaches—usually don’t need antibiotics. Most children recover fully with rest, fluids, and simple comfort measures.

Why antibiotics are not routinely used for most infections:
Most illnesses are caused by viruses, so antibiotics won’t help.
Antibiotics rarely speed up recovery in common childhood conditions.
They can cause unwanted side effects such as rashes and diarrhoea.
Using antibiotics when they’re not needed increases the chance they will stop working for serious infections in the future.

A quick reminder that the Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) service will take their final phone requests for repeat prescriptions from Wellington Road Surgery patients on Friday 7th November, until 4pm.
