Return your unused antibiotics πŸ’Š

Not all antibiotics work for all infections, and taking them when they’re not needed can do more harm than good.

Using antibiotics unnecessarily gives bacteria the chance to become resistant. This means they may not work when you really need them.

If you have any leftover or unused antibiotics at home:

♻️ Don’t keep them β€œjust in case”
🚫 Don’t throw them in the bin or flush them
πŸ₯ Take them back to your pharmacy for safe disposal

Living with diabetes? When did you last get your feet checked? πŸ‘£

Foot health is a really important part of diabetes care. Reduced sensation and circulation can mean small problems go unnoticed - and without treatment, they can become serious.

The good news is that most complications are preventable with regular checks.

Make sure you:
β€’ Check your feet daily
β€’ Attend your annual foot check
β€’ Seek advice early if you notice any changes

Look out for:
β€’ Cuts, sores or blisters that aren’t healing
β€’ Redness or swelling
β€’ Changes in colour or temperature
β€’ Pain or numbness

If you haven’t had your foot check this year, contact the surgery to book an appointment πŸ“ž

Following the sad loss of Mel Schilling in recent weeks, many people have been thinking more about the signs and symptoms of colorectal (bowel) cancer.

Bowel cancer can affect people of all ages, and when it’s caught early, treatment is often very effective, so it’s important not to ignore potential warning signs:

β€’ Blood in your stool
β€’ Ongoing changes in your usual bowel habits
β€’ Persistent lower abdominal pain or discomfort
β€’ Unexplained weight loss
β€’ Ongoing fatigue or unusual tiredness

If you notice any of these symptoms or feel concerned, please contact the surgery. Early detection can save lives.

If you’re aged 50 or over, regular bowel screening is recommended, even if you feel completely well.

What is screening? πŸ§ͺ

Screening looks for early signs of health conditions in people who feel well.
Finding problems early can mean treatment works better.

NHS screening programmes in Wales include checks for conditions such as breast cancer, cervical cancer and abdominal aortic aneurysm.

If you receive a screening invitation, please consider attending.
