Consumer unit upgrade for a rental property today after a failed EICR due to a broken consumer unit casing and multiple circuits not having 30mA RCD protection.

The circuits were also reconfigured to allow for night storage heaters to be replaced with eco electric radiators for a more efficient and cost effective heating system.

The Rointe Kyros radiators are 7 day programmable with multiple time zones and WiFi controllable.

EV charger upgrades and rectifications with my friend Durman Electrical 🤙

Sometimes a “simple replacement” uncovers a much bigger issue ⚡️

While working at this commercial building, we were asked to replace a faulty EV charger. On inspection, we found all three chargers had been poorly installed. Incorrect circuit protection, no surge protection, no load monitoring, and incorrectly terminated cables. The setup didn’t comply with wiring regulations or the manufacturer’s instructions.

We flagged this with the client and provided a solution:
✔️ New wiring
✔️ Individual consumer units for each charger
✔️ RCD protection
✔️ Surge protection
✔️ Load monitoring

The result? A much safer installation that now fully complies with current wiring regulations and gives the client proper peace of mind.

If you’ve got EV chargers on site, it’s worth making sure they’ve been installed correctly - safety and compliance really do matter.

Got to assist my friend Bright Wight Electrical with the upgrade of this 3phase commercial distribution board for a local garage.

Upgraded to RCBO protective devices, Surge Protection Device and upgraded containment.

Quite the clean up from the old distribution gear!
