We would like to sincerely apologise to our patients for the recent delays in processing prescriptions at Lliswerry Pharmacy.
These delays are due to an essential IT upgrade which I realise hasn't run smoothly!
One of the major issues is that the mobile phone numbers of patients registered with our prescription collection robot have not transferred across to the new system. Therefore, up to 100 patients per day who would normally collect directly from the robot have needed to attend the pharmacy so we can update their contact details and ensure continued access to the service. A crowded pharmacy has had a knock on effect to our other services and operations, particularly answering the phone!
But the upgrade is necessary to enable us to safely and securely process prescriptions through the Wales Electronic Prescription Service, which will improve efficiency, accuracy, and overall service for our patients in the future.
We understand how important your medication is; the staff, as ever, are working extremely hard to complete this transition as quickly as possible while ensuring patient safety remains our top priority.
