Elaine is one of our Healthcare Assistants and Phlebotomists, supporting the dermatology team with a broad skill set built across health, social care, and education. Her background includes roles as a Senior Carer, a Teaching Assistant, and most recently as an Emergency Department Assistant at St Mary’s Hospital, where she worked across the Emergency Department, Urgent Treatment Centre, and Covid Emergency ward.

Elaine has completed extensive clinical training, including Immediate Life Support, venepuncture, cannulation, ECGs, bladder scanning, blood glucose monitoring, and more. Her experience and calm, capable approach make her a valued member of our clinical team and a reassuring presence for patients 💙

Progress isn’t always a straight line 💬

After a knee injury, Glenn had to pause his Couch to 5K journey for a couple of weeks, and that’s okay. Recovery matters. Listening to your body matters.

Now he’s back, starting gently, walking first and building up again at his own pace. Because looking after yourself also means getting back to the things you care about, when you’re ready.

If you’re taking it slow this winter, you’re still moving forward. Just keep going, in whatever way works for you.

Louise is our research lead for a clinical study monitoring the long-term safety of medications used to treat psoriasis. She is a highly skilled member of both the clinical and administration teams at The Lighthouse Clinic, with her role split between dermatology administration and supporting clinicians in practice.

With a background spanning hospitals and nursing homes, Louise brings a broad range of experience to her work. Her qualifications include Health and Social Care, Medication Administration and Control, a CertHE in Healthcare & Health Science, and further study in mental health, wellbeing, and dementia. She is also trained in immunisations, B12 injections, and Mental Health First Aid.

Over the past few weeks, Glenn has been working his way through Couch to 5K, and it’s been great to see his progress, commitment, and his small wins along the way. It’s a good reminder that looking after your health doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t have to be fast, fit, or perfect, you just have to start.

As the colder months set in, staying active can make a real difference to both physical and mental wellbeing. Whether it’s a short walk, a gentle jog, or simply moving a little more each day, every bit counts.

Helen is one of our Advanced Nurse Practitioners in Surgical Dermatology, specialising in skin cancer recognition and surgical removal. With over 30 years of nursing experience, she has worked across the Isle of Wight as well as in Southampton and Portsmouth, in both hospital and community settings.

Her background as a Community Matron, combined with qualifications in public health and independent prescribing, means Helen brings a thoughtful, holistic approach to every patient she supports.
