- this time last week we had completed October's ASIST Su***de Intervention Skills Training in the community, and this was a special one...
Not only has our su***de-safer community in Wales gained 11 more Care Givers, able to confidently support a person through thoughts of su***de towards safety, but this was also my longstanding co-trainer Sarah Jones (Uplifted Wellbeing) 150th workshop! 💫
150 workshops; 300 days delivering in the training room - plus many more undertaking training, upskilling and CPD; countless road trips (and sometimes questionable hotels) and most importantly well over 2,000 people trained in life saving ASIST su***de intervention! What a powerhouse! 👏
I was so pleased that we hit this milestone the way we started - with an open workshop for our local community.
Fantastic to have attendees from Cyfannol Women's Aid, Taff Housing, Epione Therapeutic Coaching, Voices From Care Cymru, Study Group, British Red Cross and ProMo Cymru join us for this workshop - everyone really leaned into the discussions, contributed to practice and simulations and demonstrated committment to making an impact amongst their communities.
Some of the feedback shared includes:
🗣️ "Absolutly loved Sarah and Chris, they made the course so enjoyable."
🗣️ "An all round great workshop. Helpful for personal and professional use. Great examples and interactive."
🗣️ "Really robust and useful training to help me feel ready to use it."
🗣️ "Great group workshops getting to know other support workers in the area, thank you so much Chris and Sarah."
🗣️"Excellent course and trainers - very informative."
🗣️"Absolutly amaing, so infightful and has taught me a lot."
🗣️ "Exceptional training programme - thanks!"
Our next community workshop takes places in in February 2026 - we currently have 5 places remaining (details in comments). Alternatively, we can travel to you for groups of 10 of more - drop us an email at hello@thewellbeingguy.co.uk ✉️

Fresh off the plane from holidays and straight back to delivering our ASIST Su***de Intervention Training, at one of my favourite venues, Hafod's Brocastle Manor. 🏠
We had a fantastic time with the Hafod team (as always!) - everyone was so passionate and committed to making a positive difference in this space, and gave 110% to the discussions, practices and simulations! 💯
If you or your team would like to undertake the ICF and CPD Accedited ASIST (Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training), there are two routes to accessing this:
1️⃣ Individuals can join one of our Open Courses, designed for the community and open to all - we run these 3 times a year. We currently have a wait-list for our October workshop, and are taking bookings on our website now for February and June's (running in Cardiff).
2️⃣ For groups of 10 or more, we will come to your organisation and deliver this training in-house/on-site. Simply drop us an email to find out more: hello@thewellbeingguy.co.uk

Just wrapped up delivering ASIST (Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training) with an amazing team at University of Wales Trinity Saint David ✨
Colleagues from across London, Carmarthen, Cardiff and Swansea campuses came together - not only to build vital su***de intervention skills, but also to strengthen internal connections between academic and support teams.
Brilliant to see the energy, collaboration and commitment in the room as always - and some fantastic feedback once again, which Uplifted Wellbeing and I massivly appreciate 🙌 Diolch

This 💙
It is of upmost importance that you fill your cup and hold on to your joy and allow yourself to rest. What the world needs right now is as many people connected to their light as possible 🌟💫 Don’t get consumed by fear, it would be a travesty for your light to dim. Others will be using it as a source of hope 💡

Let's hear it for our latest Care Givers that completed another powerful ASIST su***de intervention skills workshop in Cardiff this week! 👏👏👏
A huge congratulations and thank you to those who joined us, shared openly and contributed couragously – including colleagues from Taff Housing, British Heart Foundation, Benjamin Franklin International School (BFIS), nhs.uk and Voices From Care Cymru 🩵
It’s always so encouraging to see people come together, learn, and grow in their ability to support others at risk of su***de, and in a workshop first, we even had an attendee travel all the way from Spain to be part of our training! 🇪🇸✈️

The Wellbeing Guy launched in 2017 with the aim of delivering mental health interventions & su***de intervention training, to help increase levels of resilience and normalise conversations about mental health across Wales and the South-West.
Following a 10 year career in disability and 1:1 mental health practitioner work, I discovered a passion for taking these messages out in to the community, supporting private organisations, housing associations, schools, universities and more to develop their own mental health toolkits and implement their own su***de-safer communities through energising and engaging training.
I have experience of working 1:1 with people to develop their own awareness and strategies to manage their mental health, as well as delivering various internally accredited staff training programmes such as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and safeTALK - Su***de Alertness to name but a few. I’m also a certified NLP Practitioner and love coaching clients towards achieving their goals, and balancing their wellbeing.
Currently my work with The Wellbeing Guy is focusing on su***de prevention, both through our open and in-house ASIST (su***de intevention skills) training, and the running of the open safeTALK su***de alertness talks for communities. Interested in hosting a talk for your community? Get in touch with me on hello@thewellbeingguy.co.uk!
