💙 World Reflexology Week 💙 22-28 September
Day 6

As World Reflexology week draws to a close, I wanted to re-introduce myself for those who may not know me. My name is Kelly and I established Lauren Blue Reflexology & Holistic Therapies some years ago.

When I am not offering my therapies, I am a busy mum. I have a daughter, who has just started University and I try to support my parents as much as I can - my father was diagnosed with dementia and alzheimers several years ago.

Before I moved to the beautiful Isle of Wight, I worked as a Learning Support Assistant. I loved helping children and young adults with their learning and development. I also trained in Counselling and Listening Skills.

I truly love Holistic/Alternative Therapies and helping people to relax and look after themselves. In an ideal world, I would wish everyone have access to as many therapies as possible!!!!

My particular interests within Reflexology are -

Supporting Neurodiversity
Supporting Menopause
Supporting Fertility and Pregnancy
Supporting Children and Young adults
Supporting Stress/Anxiety
Supporting People with Cancer

I love to dance and sing, much to my daughters embarrassment!! And when I find the time, I enjoy walking by the sea and doing yoga. I also like cake!!!!

💙 Day 4

Some common questions I get asked about Reflexology:

🌸 I really don't like my feet being touched, will it feel ticklish?

The pressure and touch I use is usually firm and steady. It should not tickle. The treatment should feel relaxing and soothing. I often suggest giving it a try. There are always facial or hand reflexology as other options too.

🌸 Whats the difference between foot massage and foot reflexology?

Although both are really beneficial, I will target particular reflexes/areas on the foot to help promote the body's natural self-healing and balance. I will also use lots of massage techniques too during a treatment (good for relaxation and circulation).

🌸 How can you touch feet? I really don't like mine....

I trained to become a Reflexologist because I love being able to help people and I know how amazing reflexology can be - the benefits are numerous. When I am touching feet I visualise a map of the body. I want to offer a calming and relaxing experience for the person in front of me.

🌸 There is nothing wrong with me so why would I need reflexology?

That's brilliant but you do not need to be unwell or to have any health issues to benefit from reflexology. It is a perfect treatment for stress relief and deep relaxation.

🌸 Can children have reflexology?

Yes, children of all ages, from babies to teenagers, can have reflexology. In fact children often respond very well to the treatment.

No question is ever too silly!!!!

💙 Day 3

Reflexology & The Vagus Nerve

The Vagus Nerve is the longest cranial nerve in the body and is the most important nerve of the para- sympathetic nervous system. It aids our 'rest & digest'

The Vagus Nerve starts in our brainstem (just behind the ears), it transcends down each side of the neck, across our chest & down through our abdomen - stopping along the way at our heart, lungs, spleen, liver & kidneys.

During all of my Reflexology treatments I work the Vagus Nerve. Here are some of the many possible benefits :

Can reduce stress & anxiety.

Can help with mood boosting and mental clarity.

Can assist our Immune System.

In summary, this is a great way to help our body relax.

💙 World Reflexology Week 💙 22-28 September 💙 Day 2

Today I had the privilege of offering some therapies at Wessex Cancer Support IOW. I am lucky enough to be one of two therapists based here.

Cancer Research UK recommend reflexology.
Whist reflexology is not a treatment or cure for cancer, it is a popular complementary therapy used for people with cancer (Reiki is another).

Reflexology can help those undergoing cancer treatment by relieving pain, aiding blood circulation, boosting the immune system, and improving mood. Some people with cancer say they feel more relaxed and able to cope after a reflexology session.

I always love my Tuesdays at Wessex Cancer Support ❤️

💙 Facial Reflexology & Holistic Facials
💜 Massage

I love to use natural products in all of my treatments, along with some special tools (as well as using my hands).

Some of my favoured tools are Gua Sha Stones - Rose Quartz and Jade are extremely good for promoting circulation, relieving pain and reducing inflammation. Rose Quartz encourages the release of oxygen, helping our skins elasticity.

On a recent trip to Italy I sourced some beautiful Facial and Body Massage tools, which I shall be using in my treatments.

I am now taking bookings for October.

Reflexology 💙

Why I trained to be a Reflexologist

I have loved holistic therapies since I was a young woman, always choosing natural therapies where I could. In my 20s I wanted to train in Reflexology as I found it fascinating. However, I was then busy living and working in London.

Many, many years later I was a mother to a teenage daughter. Just after the pandemic I was having to see my child suffer terribly with anxiety. Returning to school felt overwhelming for her. At that time we tried lots of natural therapies like yoga and meditation to try to help. I began researching Reflexology and started to practice on my daughter. We were both amazed at how much this helped to calm her, whilst also reducing her anxiety. I was so grateful to see a positive change in her, that I decided to look for a course.

I spent a year travelling over to Southampton, where I trained with Dr Jackie James. It was the start of my wonderful vocation.

I cannot even begin to explain how much I love Reflexology.
