I would like to say a huge thank you to midwives Freya and Sioned in the Grange. What started off as a lovely induction suddenly turned in to a scary emergency c section due to a cord prolapse. Freya was wonderful during the induction and made me feel so comfortable and excited. Sioned handled the emergency situation with ease and was such a comfort to me before I was put to sleep. I’ll never forget her reassurance and comforting eyes when I needed them the most!

A special shoutout to Katie and the lovely doctor (of who I can’t remember their name) who were also so reassuring during this time and their competence and skill set left me feeling so confident that we would be okay!

Here is our boy Arnie, we’re so grateful the staff were amazing and managed to delivery him here safely 💗

I just want to share my utmost gratitude for everyone who at some point was involved in my induction and delivery journey!

My experience was somewhat traumatic and unexpected through no ones fault but all staff involved were absolutely brilliant!

If I could remember everyones names I would list them and ask that each one is awarded a token of recognition!

Names I can remember are Dilly, Anya, Lisa, Brogan, Stef, Becky and particularly a nurse/midwife on the induction ward who was so supportive! Can't remember their name but I am sure they'll remember me!

I could keep going with my words of gratitude but would be here forever! From the bottom of mine and my husbands Tom's heart, thank you! With so many unfair comments the NHS service gets I am an advocate for the staff who put up with it and continue to do the work day in and out! Without all the staff and services provided me and my baby would have had no chance!

Calling all Torfaen Dads and Dads to be!

The next Council “For Dads, By Dads” programme is open for registration. The ten two-hour workshops feature talks aimed at dads. The topics include baby first aid, midwife information and health and wellbeing.

One of the previous attendees said: “It was fantastic because it’s not only a great mood lifter as you’re getting out, socialising, learning all these new things but there are things you can take from being a dad and put it into real life.”

The link to sign up is in the comments 🙂

✨ Visiting & Housekeeping Update – ABUHB Maternity Services ✨

To help us keep our maternity environments safe, comfortable, and focused on providing the best possible care, we kindly ask all families and visitors to support the following guidelines:

Food & Drink Facilities – Patients Only:

Our in‑ward food and refreshment areas are provided exclusively for patients. Visitors are not permitted to use these facilities.Thank you for helping us ensure patients have what they need during their stay.

No Gaming Consoles in Bed Spaces:

Please do not bring gaming consoles or similar electronic devices into patient bedrooms. These devices can interfere with sensitive clinical equipment and may compromise safety.

Bed Space = Patient Space

To maintain privacy, comfort, and safe working areas for staff, bed spaces are reserved for patients only. Chairs are provided nearby for partners and visitors

Visitor Notice – Ward Access (Night Hours)

From 8:00pm until 7:00am, for the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and staff, the ward will be closed as we do not have a member of staff available to man the ward entrance.

During these hours, we are unable to facilitate repeated leaving and re-entering of the ward. This measure helps us maintain a safe, calm, and secure environment for everyone in our care.

If you feel you need to remain present, we kindly ask that you stay in the room for the duration of your visit and follow staff guidance at all times.

Any exceptions must be discussed and agreed with the Midwife in Charge.

💛 Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a safe and supportive space for families and newborns across ABUHB Maternity Services
