For anyone interested in exploring a new perspective with horses, this course might well be for you! Learning Animals are running this new and fascinating online programme over the next 6 months and so I will leave the details here. You can also look them up at www.learninganimals.com

https://www.learninganimals.com/september-2023-online-course-being-a-horse-in-the-21st-century/

Learn what it means to be part of an adventurous world, of shared stories, preserving a horse as owner of their own experiences - which is what makes it possible to deepen your connection, to a dimension where you did not even think possible.

Read on for fantastic opportunity to join the Animality Horizons International programme with Francesco and Jose de Giorgio this summer in Wales (and online)

A study-path and personal growth journey to give insight on how to emancipate from a functional and task oriented society. A journey of growth to go back "from being defined by results" to one’s own experience-potential.

A little louder for those at the back:

Yes horses will run even when they don’t want to.

Yes whips hurt.

Yes horses will run “in the wild” but that is when they are frightened. (Play being an exception but it looks very different with stopping/starting/interacting etc....)

Treating horses “like kings” or “like royalty” is not the same as meeting their equine needs.

Today’s horses have not evolved a whole different set of needs that sets them apart from their wild counterparts.

Horses will often be compliant even though they are fearful and/or in pain.

If horse racing ceased to exist then, no, horses would not become extinct.

When young horses are frequently dying in the pursuit of human “sport” then we really need to step back and reassess what we are doing.

Non-horsey people often “get this”, yet horsey people seem to think they can gaslight them into thinking otherwise.

Stop it.

The horse? He owes us nothing.

He doesn’t owe us obedience. He doesn’t owe us respect. And he most certainly doesn’t owe us a seat on his back.

He doesn’t owe us a damn thing.

But us? We owe the horse everything.

We owe him our love. Our gratitude. Our loyal companionship. We owe him our highest quality care and attention to the needs of his mind, his body and his soul.

We owe him the ability to have a voice that’s heard no matter what he’s saying. We owe him respect. We owe him a spot in our barn or a place in our pasture whether he “works” for us or not.

We owe him everything. Why?

Because he’s the horse. The keeper of our secrets, the light of our life, and the depth of our soul.

A lovely explanation of the therapeutic hierarchy and how preparation is so important when working with trauma.

Exploring trauma is all too often the first approach for some professionals. Or they spend just one or two sessions on safety, which is not enough for most people.
Preparing to work on trauma can take a long time! That doesn’t mean we are delaying healing - Focusing on safety, relationships, and co-regulation in the here and now can drastically reduce suffering and improve the quality of life for trauma survivors.

While we might take care of our children in the traditional ways, making sure they are fed, clothed, and have a roof over their heads those are not the only things that matter. Sometimes we forget just how important it is to take care of our children on an emotional level and because of this many fa...
