A few glimpses from a project we delivered last summer. The location was nothing short of spectacular. Set on the edge of the River Fal, deep within ancient woodland, it offered the chance to sauna surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature before cooling off in the creek below.
The clients were an active couple building their dream home, and when a last-minute opening appeared in our workshop schedule we were able to design, build and install the sauna in under a month.

We’ve always felt that the external cladding mirrors what happens inside the sauna: a meeting of heat, transformation and renewal. You step out of the sauna calmer, stronger, more grounded. The external timber too carries its own transformation through every grain.

Our sauna cladding is created through charring with the traditional Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban. When larch timber meets the flame, the surface begins to shift - the grain darkens and the texture deepens. Every board has new character, with no two pieces of cladding the same.

This charring process does more than shape the look. It naturally protects the timber from weather, insects and decay, creating a cladding that stands up to harsh coastal winds, winter frost and years of use with very little maintenance. It’s a finish we have chosen for both beauty and resilience.

Huer’s Hut is our original, bestselling sauna - a quiet retreat designed to seat up to six people, with a two-tier floating bench design that elevates the traditional sauna experience.

Clad in our signature black Shou Sugi Ban timber, it blends contemporary lines with the character of a woodland cabin, creating a space to honour slow, restorative sauna practice.

This design features our reimagined changing room with a rear-entrance, ensuring the glass outlook of the sauna opens out onto the surrounding landscape. A stepping-stone path winds from the doorway through the trees to a timber jetty and private creek - perfect for ice cold dips and nature-led recovery.
