🌍Adaption In A changing Landscape 🌍

I’m not one for putting the spotlight on myself but this International Women’s Day, I’ll use it as an excuse to share something I’m quietly proud of.

I was honoured to be featured in the February edition of ‘Funeral Director Monthly’, as part of their piece on ‘Growth And Reinvention In Changing Times’ highlighting adaption in a changing landscape.

Being trusted to care for families here in Newquay is something I never take lightly. Every funeral reminds me that while traditions matter, so does listening, adapting, and creating farewells that truly reflect the life being remembered.

In our profession, we speak often about legacy.

Last week, we helped plant one 🌱

Supporting Forest for Cornwall on our doorstep here at Trenance. We are proud to play a small part in something that will grow for decades to come, because legacy isn’t only about remembrance. It’s also about renewal.

Community, care and legacy — in every sense of the word.

Henwood Funerals, rooted in community, growing towards the future.

A proud evening!

This evening I was elected Vice President of the Cornwall Area Federation of the National Association of Funeral Directors. I will serve two years as Vice President, before going on to serve two years as President.

Following in family footsteps and very grateful for the support and encouragement of fantastic friends along the way — I hope to make both my dad and grandad proud.

WE’VE BEEN REUNITED!!! 🎉🚁🌳

After storm Goretti turned the gardens at Penmount into a scene from Apocalypse: Cornwall, and after it very nearly met it’s end inside a wood chipper (long story), I jumped out of the hearse said to the tree surgeons working today,

“’Ere… ’aven’t seen a drone ’av ee?”
And there it was. Lying among the branches like Simba on Pride Rock. Absolutely dramatic.

The recipe for a lesson I learned the hard way, nearly 2 years ago in the summer sun, ✅ Looking up❌ Sun blindness❌ Massive trees with a personal vendetta against drones

Just don’t mix!!

I was gutted. Not just for the kit… but for the SD card containing HOURS of footage. A true tragedy!

Now begins the noble quest to resurrect it and rescue the footage.Where is our nearest paddy field again? 🫠

You gotta laugh!
