Scott L Sutherland North Coast Chiropractic Scott L Sutherland - Doctor of Chiropractic in Newquay, Cornwall. A hub of resources and a channel o I then moved to Newquay, Cornwall in 2003.

I grew up in East London in South Africa and I studied my masters degree in chiropractic at the Durban institute of Technology. I completed my degree in 2002 and did locums around SA for a year to gain experience and to travel. I am an associate chiropractor at the clinic and I have enjoyed it so much that my travel stint has become permanent and I am lucky to be raising my family in the South Wes

t. I would consider myself to be a diligent, experienced, and responsible professional. I try to live and work with as high a degree of integrity as possible. I have a very wide range of interests including many outdoor pursuits (surfing, tennis, kayaking, and radio controlled gliders). I have been a member of the Heron’s tennis club for many years and play team matches regularly. My work life is very much in the same vane in that I try and take as broad approach to patient care and health as possible (diversified technique). After a thorough history, examination and review of findings treatments may include:
Soft tissue therapies
Chiropractic joint adjustment & mobilisation techniques
Dry needling/acupuncture
Strapping (including Kinesio tape)
Advice
Home therapies
Corrective/rehabilitation techniques and Exercises. Many conditions which patients have that we treat are multifactoral in origin and each patient and their circumstances are unique. Therefore having many different “tools in the toolbox”, so to speak, gives patients a greater chance of a quick recovery that is also importantly, sustainable. We are primary care physicians that help importantly to find a correct diagnosis and offer a wealth of complementary options for general health and wellbeing that may be affecting and contributing to your condition. I very much try to take as evidence based approach to the care of my patients as much as possible using proven methods of care that are tailored to each person. In order to achieve the best results and to be able to show genuine care for our patients health and wellbeing treatment times are 20 minutes and initial consultations are 40 minutes. It is not a high volume practice. We do have x-ray facilities and patients are referred for x-rays when necessary. I'm confident you'll enjoy our warm and positive environment and I/we welcome you to make a booking.

UTILIZATION OF CHIROPRACTIC CARE ASSOCIATED WITH SUBSTANTIAL REDUCTION IN LIKELIHOOD OF OPIOID USE. A retrospective cohort study has found that receipt of chiropractic care in newly diagnosed low back pain patients disrupts the need for opioids and long-term opioid use. The study, which included over 40,000 subjects, used data from the Arkansas All Payers’ Claims Database, examined the impact of both chiropractic and physiotherapy, which was used in 6% and 5% of cases respectively. Physiotherapy was found not to confer the same benefits on opioid usage compared to chiropractic.

The study concluded that early use of chiropractic care decreased the odds of opioid use and long-term opioid use.

Responding to the study’s publication, WFC Public Health Committee Chair, Dr Claire Johnson, said, “I commend the authors of this excellent study which showed that chiropractic care may help to reduce the likelihood of opioid use. Chiropractors are part of the larger health care community and we all are looking for ways to reduce opioid addiction and related deaths.”
