So many of you said frequent waking is the hardest part right now — especially with babies under 6 months 🤍
From an osteopathic perspective, frequent waking is often less about routines or habits, and more about how comfortable and regulated a baby’s body and nervous system feel.
Young babies don’t yet have the ability to self-regulate between sleep cycles — they rely on a parent to help them settle again.
This is why cry-it-out isn’t appropriate for babies under 6 months.
Responding to your baby isn’t creating a problem — it’s supporting their nervous system while it’s still developing.
In clinic, I’m looking beyond sleep itself and asking:
how comfortable does this baby feel in their body?
is there tension from birth or growth?
could digestion, reflux, or nervous system overload be playing a role?
When those things are supported, babies often find it easier to move between sleep cycles and resettle — not because they’ve been trained, but because they’re more comfortable and regulated.
If you’re in the thick of this, I see you. I’ve been there — and with the right support, it really does get easier 🥰
