A reminder to be alert when on the phone; Do's and Don'ts
DO:
- Let it go to voicemail, if it not a known number, if it's important, they will leave a voicemail.
- Block, any number you know is a spam call.
- Hang up, if you are unsure, they are from the organisation they are claiming to be from or are pressuring you to make a payment, or give them bank/personal details, one-time codes sent your phone.
DON'T:
- Call back, if they are an unknown number and it isn't a scam the caller will leave a voicemail.
- Say "Yes" or "Hello", scammers can copy your voice and use it pretending you be you, wait for someone to speak and hang up if you have any doubt about if it is a real call.
- Share personal information, National Insurance Number, PINs/Passwords or bank/personal details.
- Click on any links, if an unknown calls asks you to click a link in a text don't do it as it could steal your information or give you a virus.
