News about the online publication of the 1926 Census returns.

Big news for all of you who are searching for your Irish roots: the 1926 Census of the Ireland will be released online in April 2026! 🥳

This will be the first new census made public since 1911, offering a rare look at life in the 1920s. You’ll be able to search names, addresses, occupations, Irish language ability, and full household details. For many families, this long-awaited release will finally bridge the gap between the 1911 Census and modern records. 💚

If you’re tracing your ancestry, now is a great time to gather names, townlands, and family clues so you’re ready when it goes live.

Please note: Northern Ireland census records are not included in this release.

IMPORTANT IRISH PASSPORT ADVICE

As of December 2025, the Passport Office in Dublin have changed the process of applying for a new passport via the ‘paper’ method. Please note that applying online is still the quickest method.

You now must:

📞 Call the Passport Assist Service on 00353 1613 1795

📄The Passport Office team will generate a bespoke paper application form with your details pre-filled and post it to you for signing and witnessing (if necessary)

🔍You check the details on the application form, gather your supporting documents and passport photos and bring them to your local post office.

✉️Your post office will then take the payment and submit your application using the Passport postal service.

To be honest Ancestry's findings make no sense to me at all. As far as I know, my ancestral lines are, primarily, Counties Armagh and Louth.

The death has occured of 𝐄𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐕𝐄𝐘 𝐧𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐜 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚 Aged:91 (Crossmaglen) on the 8th December 2025 peacefully at Daisy Hill Hospital. Devoted wife of the late John RIP. Cherished mother of Mary, Frank, Briege & Geraldine. Dear mother in law of Michael and the late Nora RIP. Cherished grandmother of Sinead, Louise, Ryan & Connor. Great grandmother of Caoimhe, Meabh, Sophia, Eabha, Holly, Amy & Liam. Predeceased by her parents Frank & Roseanne Mc Kenna RIP (Drumboat). Sister of the late John, Pa**ie, Mary, Katie, Bridgie, Annie & Rose RIP.

Reposing at her late residence at 75 Dundalk Rd Crossmaglen BT35 9HL on Tuesday afternoon. WAKE visiting times Tuesday 4-9pm. Funeral on Wednesday 10th December leaving her home at 1:10pm (house strictly private on Wednesday) to St Patrick’s Church Crossmaglen arriving for 1:30pm Requiem Mass. The death has occured of 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐞 𝐌𝐜 𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐋𝐄 (Tullydonnell) on the 26th October 2025 peacefully at his home. Predeceased by his beloved wife Maureen and son Raymond RIP. Cherished father of Caroline (Cumiskey), Ronan, Liam, Bernadine (Roe), Martin, Jacinta, Violet (Kenny), Aidy & Barry. Dear father in law of Peter, Paul, Michael, Lisa, Nicky, Tonya & Elaine. Devoted son of the late Hughie & Maryann Mc Gahan (nee Mc Ardle) RIP. Loving brother of Hughie, Phil (Mc Donald) & Maria (Whyte) & brother in law of Susan.

Francie will repose at his home from 5pm on Monday evening with visitors welcome to the family home at all times until his removal on Wednesday morning. Funeral on Wednesday 29th October leaving his late residence at 10:20am to St Brigid’s Church Glassdrummond (via the Cortresla Rd) arriving for 11am Funeral Mass.
