he runs every morning ,and is preparing for The Coast 10k and Half Marathon. Those feet and legs need to be in tip top condition

One thing I always tell people about folk magic — and most don’t realize this — is that it was never meant to look dramatic.

It wasn’t robes and rituals and elaborate tools.

It was survival.

Folk magic came from people who didn’t have time for ceremony. They had fields to tend, children to raise, animals to protect, sickness to ward off. So their magic got woven into everyday life. A bowl of salt by the door wasn’t “witchcraft” — it was protection. A loaf of bread kneaded with prayer wasn’t ritual — it was blessing the family.

And here’s the part most people don’t know:

A lot of folk magic was intentionally disguised.

Women especially hid it inside chores. Sweeping wasn’t just cleaning — it was clearing energy. Stirring a pot clockwise wasn’t random — it was drawing something in. Hanging herbs by the door wasn’t decoration — it was warding. They made it look ordinary on purpose.

Another thing people miss? Folk magic is hyper-local.

It changes depending on the land. Appalachian folk magic doesn’t look like Italian folk magic. Scandinavian protection doesn’t look like Mexican brujería. The plants, the prayers, the symbols — they’re shaped by the soil and the spirits of that place. Folk magic belongs to the land first, and the people second.

And here’s something I love:

Folk magic isn’t about belief in the abstract. It’s about relationship and repetition. If something worked once, they did it again. And again. And again. Over generations. Power builds through repetition.

That’s why even the smallest act — lighting a candle in the kitchen, placing iron by a threshold, whispering a prayer over water — can carry centuries behind it.

Folk magic isn’t flashy.

It’s steady.

It’s the quiet magic of people who understood that the sacred doesn’t need spectacle — it just needs intention woven into the ordinary. 🌾🔥

As the Year of the Snake draws to a close on the 17th Feb we enter into the Year of the Horse. There’s a quiet but powerful energetic shift that takes place during this transition.

The Snake carries the medicine of introspection. It was a year of shedding skins, refining instincts, learning in private. Subtle and deep work.

Before we rush forward, it’s worth pausing to honour what this past year has given us.

Where have you outgrown an old version of yourself?
What have you shed?
What truths did you finally face?
What wisdom did you gain in silence?

To consciously close this cycle, you might light a candle and reflect on the lessons that shaped you. Journal about the parts of you that feel different now. Clear a drawer, release clothes that no longer feel like “you,” burn a small note representing something you’re ready to let go of. Offer gratitude for the strength that came through stillness.

And then… the Horse arrives.

Horse energy is movement. Fire. Visibility. Courage. Where Snake is internal, Horse is expressive. Where Snake waits, Horse runs. This is the energy of momentum, freedom and bold authenticity.

To open this new chapter, you might ask:

What have I been hesitating on?
Where am I ready to be seen?
What motivates and excites me?
What dream wants movement now?
Set intentions that are visible, not hidden away in a notebook.

The Horse rewards action aligned with truth. It asks for bravery. It asks you to trust your heart, your passion, your fire.

This transition doesn’t need to be dramatic. It can be simple and sacred.

“I release what has completed. I carry forward the wisdom. I welcome the courage to run.”

From quiet growth…
To embodied movement.

From shedding…
To becoming.

A Throwback to one of our women’s circles last year
I’m really looking forward to women’s circles starting again on 3rd March @8:00pm . Indoor to begin until the weather improves

The circles are small due to the emotional nature of sharing and learning .
My circles are full of rituals, stories, meditation, music, cocao herbal teas , fortified wine, angel cards positive energy and embracing the divine feminine and deepening the ripple of sisterhood .
