Acknowledgement and Month’s Mind Notice for the Late Shane McEvoy R.I.P.
We, Shane’s family, wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all who sympathised with us on the recent loss of our beloved son, brother, partner and uncle.
During the darkest and most difficult days of our lives, we have been deeply comforted by the kindness and support of those around us. We are especially grateful to our extended family, neighbours, friends, and everyone who supported us throughout this heartbreaking time. We were truly touched by the compassion shown by those who attended the wake and funeral, sent cards, flowers, food, messages of comfort, or offered help in any way. Your support has meant more to us than words can express.
We extend our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the Irish Defence Forces, especially the Central Medical Unit, Army Ranger Wing, 27th Infantry Battalion, Air Corps, Field Engineers, Communications and Information Services, and all military personnel who assisted in the search for Shane and provided food and support to both searchers and our family. Your dedication, professionalism and compassion brought comfort and a measure of peace to our family, and will never be forgotten.
Our sincere thanks to the PSNI and An Garda Síochána for their efforts, compassion and dedication throughout the search for Shane.
We also wish to thank K9 Search and Rescue, Community Rescue Service, Search and Rescue Dog Association, and Sky Watch NI for their assistance during the search.
A special word of thanks to our local community and businesses. We are deeply grateful to all who searched on foot, to those who assisted in any way, and to the Carrickdale Hotel for their generosity, for supplying refreshments and providing the use of their premises during the search. We also thank those who kindly provided food for the wake.
We are grateful to those who helped with parking, those who lit the roads during the wake, and all who assisted in ensuring a safe and respectful route for the funeral cortege. Your kindness and support will never be forgotten.
Our sincere appreciation to Fr. Carlos, the concelebrating priests, deacons and acolytes for the beautiful Requiem Mass, to the sacristan, and to Mary McCabe and the musicians for the beautiful music.
We thank the Newry Cathedral Neocatechumenal community who organised rosary prayers each day during the search. Sincere thanks to the Redemptoris Mater Seminarians for their prayers and for the beautiful music in the house, which brought great comfort.
We would also like to express our sincere thanks to McGennity Funeral Directors for their professionalism, compassion and guidance throughout this difficult time. To Jacqueline, Pat and Paddy - your care, attention to detail and support in arranging the funeral meant so much to our family and helped ease the burden at a very sad time. We are truly grateful for all your help and kindness.
As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our sincere appreciation.
Mass will be offered for the intentions of all who helped, supported, and kept us in their prayers.
Shane’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Sunday 19th April in St Michael’s Church, Killean. St Joseph, patron of departing souls, pray for him. May he rest in eternal peace.
