First anniversary notice - Alan McArdle RIP

With love we remember Alan - a loving Husband, Daddy, Son and Brother.

Alan’s 1st anniversary occurs on the 18th of January.

One year has passed, yet you’re still so near,
In every shared story, in every quiet tear.
Your witty one liners, we would still love to hear,
That spark of your humour so sharp and sincere.

A quiet man who found joy in life’s small ways,
In simple routines and ordinary days.
Your family was everything, your home, your heart,
You loved us completely, right from the start.

Through long days of hardship, you battled and fought,
With grit and determination few are ever taught.
So focused on living, on all you had planned,
You made it back strong, then were taken from our hand.

They say you gained wings the day you were taken,
But our hearts were shattered, our world left shaken.
We weren’t ready to lose you, it never felt right,
An angel too soon, stolen from our sight.

You were our rock, our compass, our guide,
The strength at our centre, our constant, our pride.
Though life feels unsteady without you in sight,
We’ll carry your love - and follow your light.

Loved and missed everyday by his Wife Claire, Daughters Seána and Katie, Father Eamon, Brother Stephen, Sister Louise and entire family circle.

Alan’s anniversary Mass will take place in the Church of the Good Shepherd, Cloughreagh on Saturday the 17th of January at 6pm.

Will those who think of him today, a little prayer to Jesus say.

When I am Gone
When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
And remember only my smile

Forget unkind words I have spoken
Remember some good I have done
Forget that I have ever had heartache
And remember I have had loads of fun

Forget that I have stumbled or blundered
And oft times fell by the way
Remember that I have fought some hard battles and won
Ere the close of the day

Then forget to grieve for my going
I would not have you sad for a day
But in summer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay

And come in the shade of evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only my best ❤️

Jason’s family would like to express their gratitude for all the support they received from their family, friends and the entire community across Bessbrook, Camlough and Newry. Your kindness and friendship was overwhelming and will be forever remembered.

Acknowledgment and Month’s Mind for the late Sister Brigid Daly RIP.

SR BRIGID DALY
It is with deep gratitude that the Sisters of Mercy acknowledges the support and prayers received from past pupils, neighbours, friends and colleagues, throughout Sister Brigid’s wake and funeral. Those quiet, gentle hours of repose in Daniel Mallon’s Funeral Home, Bessbrook, provided an opportunity for all of us to hear, share and reflect on Brigid’s long life and how she reached out to so many, both young and old. It was also an opportunity to discover just how much Brigid was loved, by all who knew and worked with her.
Sincere thanks is extended to the many medical teams, doctors, nurses and carers, who worked tirelessly to ensure Brigid received the help she required, which enabled her to live her last years as comfortably as possible.
Special thanks to the Management and staff of Avila Nursing Home, Convent Hill, Bessbrook, Brigid’s home for the last seven years, their care and friendship made the lonely times bearable and the fun times memorable.
The Mercy Congregation and Brigid’s family, take this opportunity to thank Daniel Mallon, Funeral Director, Old Mill, Bessbrook, and his staff, for their sensitivity, gentle support and care, following Sr Brigid’s unexpected death. Their Funeral Home was a sacred, peaceful space, where we could be with Brigid, in her final hours with us.
Brigid’s Funeral Mass was celebrated in The Good Shepherd Church, Cloughreagh, by Father Aidan Dunne, Father Sean Larkin and assisted by Deacon Philip Carder.
The music, chosen in advance by Sr Brigid, provided by Sr Teresa Martin and Kathleen Moore, was a reflection of Brigid’s life and love of church music and song.
The children and staff from St Joseph’s Primary School, where Sr Brigid worked, formed a guard of honour in the Convent grounds, ignoring the wind and rain.
Sr Brigid was then interred in the Sisters Cemetery, at the back of the Convent, in a plot carefully prepared by Matthew, surrounded by beautiful green lawns and shrubs. It was fitting that she was gently lowered into her eternal resting place by Daniel and special friends of the Mercy Sisters from Bessbrook, where she was valued and respected for over seventy-three years.
Sr Brigid’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Sunday 11th January at 11.30 am in The Good Shepherd Church, Cloughreagh.
May she rest in everlasting peace on Bessbrook’s ‘Hill of Prayer’

Pauline’s 2nd Anniversary occurs on Christmas Day 25th December.

“A million times
We’ve needed you
A million times
We’ve cried,
If love alone
Could have saved you
You never would have died.

In life we loved you dearly;

Where no one can ever fill.

It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone
Part of us went with you,
The day God took you home.”
