As the leading first aid charity, St John Ambulance relies on the work of dedicated volunteers to provide first aid treatment and training throughout the country. With more than 45,000 volunteers throughout the United Kingdom, over half of which are under 25, St John Ambulance is able to treat 550 casualties per day, or 200,000 per year. All without government funding. Each year St John Ambulance
volunteers donate 4 million voluntary hours to ensure the public’s safety and enjoyment at events. In addition to providing first aid services, St John Ambulance volunteers are also involved in transporting patients to appointments, providing respite care to the elderly and working with youth on personal development.
