At our recent meeting with NEWRY BID, Dáire Hughes MP and I spoke to local traders to get an insight into the real challenges they are currently facing.

Our retail and hospitality sector have experienced blow after blow in recent years, making it increasingly difficult to do business for so many.

A number of key areas were identified which would reduce pressure on businesses, encourage more people to shop and socialise in our city centre, and, in the longer term, attract new business and investment for Newry, which Dáire and I, along with our Newry council team, will work to achieve in the time ahead.

Sinn Féin are determined to deliver solutions that will make a real difference for our much valued and longstanding businesses in our city centre.

What could your day look like in Newry? 🎃

✅10am- join us for our Halloween walk on Newry Greenway in aid of USPCA. Starting at Albert Basin - 2km, bring the dog, bring the kids or just bring yourself. FREE treats and prizes for best dressed.

✅ 11am- Spooky Tales for kids at Newry Library with the fabulous Players. FREE Treats. Under 12s but all welcome. Libraries in Newry, Mourne and Down 📚🎃

✅12 noon - Try our Pumpkin Trail- starting at Customer Service Desk at Buttercrane Centre ButterCrane Newry - find the 10 pumpkins across the city and there is a FREE tasty treat in the final venue. 🎃🎃🎃

✅1pm-5pm there’s facepainting in Buttercrane, pop up music from Ceev at Buttercrane and Dunnes; and our Spook Squad will be out at 3pm-5pm with tricks, treats and great giveaways. 🎉🎉🎉

✅5pm Head over to the Twilight Market at Newry Market for lots of Halloween fun and a kids disco or book at Newry Ghost Walk. 🪩 💀👻🎃

All events are FREE so come along and enjoy Halloween in Newry.

See below for details of our 2k Dog walk tomorrow morning (Friday 31st October) Newry Greenway parkrun route, starting at Albert Basin. Lots of free treats for dogs and their humans. 🐶 🎉 fans

The weather is set to pick up on Friday, so why not make the most of the morning by joining NEWRY BID for their Halloween dog walk in aid of the USPCA.🎃🐾

Bring your furry friend along and kick off your festivities with a 2km walk as part of their Spooks in the City event schedule, with prizes up for grabs for the best dressed adult and child.🧛

🕐 When: 10am on Friday 31st October
📍 Where: Start of the Greenway at Albert Basin in Newry, just opposite the The Quays, Newry
