Acknowledgement – The Late Eamon Rooney (RIP)
We, the family of the late Eamon Rooney (RIP), wish to express our heartfelt and sincere gratitude to all who offered sympathy and support following our recent, sudden, and profound loss.
We were deeply moved by the overwhelming outpouring of kindness from our local communities and beyond—from every handshake, embrace, kind word, message, card, and bouquet. Your compassion brought us great comfort. We were especially touched by those who travelled long distances, including from Cork, and by the thoughtful messages sent from England, America, Australia, and Tenerife.
Our deepest thanks go to the extended Rooney and Finnegan families, and to our neighbours, whose support helped carry us through this emotional and difficult time. Every gesture, no matter how small, was deeply appreciated.
We extend sincere thanks to the first responders and An Garda Síochána for their professionalism and compassion on the day of Eamon’s passing. Special thanks also to Dr. Mary Flanagan for going above and beyond in her care and support of our family.
We are especially grateful to those who helped organise the wake and kept vigil with Eamon through the night. To all who brought food, prepared meals, and served tea—your generosity did not go unnoticed. Our heartfelt thanks also to John Boyle and his family for providing accommodation for relatives, and to those who managed parking arrangements and prepared Eamon’s final resting place with such care and respect.
We are truly thankful for the touching guards of honour from Páirc Uí Néill, Sinn Féin, and the O’Neill Pipe Band. Lorna and Brian’s beautiful piping to begin and end the Requiem Mass added a personal and poignant touch. We are also grateful to Fr. Paddy for celebrating the Mass so fittingly, and to John Hogan and Colleen Savage for the beautiful music throughout the liturgy.
A sincere thank you to Clontibret Social Club and all who supported at the community centre following the funeral Mass. Many of you were close friends of Eamon’s, and your presence and help meant so much to us.
We are deeply thankful to Murray’s Funeral Directors for caring for Eamon with dignity and respect. The guidance and support provided by Seamus and Aisling were truly appreciated and will not be forgotten.
Finally, a special word of thanks to those and in particular Francie, who came to Eamon’s home in the days after the funeral to complete the fence he had been so carefully building. This thoughtful act would have brought Eamon great joy.
While it is impossible to thank everyone individually, we hope this acknowledgment conveys our deepest gratitude to all who have supported and continue to support us during this time. We are eternally grateful. Please continue to keep all who are grieving or facing illness in your thoughts and prayers.
The Month’s Mind Mass for Eamon will be celebrated on Saturday, 14th June 2025 at 7:30pm in St. Mary’s Church, Clontibret.
'Your life was one of kindly deeds,
A helping hand for others needs,
Sincere and true in heart and mind,
Beautiful memories left behind.'
