Perimenopause is one of the three stages of menopause. It’s when menopause symptoms start but your periods haven’t stopped.

For many women, these symptoms can affect daily life – from energy and mood to relationships and work.

They can also start earlier for some, which is why recognising the signs and getting support matters.

Menopause will now be part of routine NHS health checks – offered every 5 years to eligible adults aged 40 to 74 – for the first time. By including tailored questions about menopause, more women will be able to get the support they need to manage their symptoms.

This week is a big one for one of our most dedicated volunteers, Derek. After years of attempts to join the London Marathon, he decided to set his sights on a higher ambition… and this Tuesday he begins an adventure to fly out to Slovenia for a 26 mile marathon across Ljubljana in aid of Wellbeing in Action.

Running has been a lifeline to Derek and despite some difficult times recently, he will be pushing his endurance in honour of his friend who sadly passed away last week. It takes determination, focus and courage to push on through adversity, and many can’t find this in a dark place, let alone face the anxiety of travelling to an unknown country, dealing with language barriers and going entirely solo.

Thank you to all the curious guests who have popped in as we set up ready for ‘Hello Karma’ women & girl’s health boutique to open fully very soon. Our opening times will be a little random while we set up new volunteers, and the workshops and groups will be a few weeks coming, but we’ve had so many positive conversations and offers to help in just two days, we can’t wait to put everyone’s wishes into action! Pop in if you’re passing - it’s your space, come and claim it! 💚

It’s an iterative journey! Creating around what gifts we have and are given - a no compromise vision matched with some skilful hands to bring it to life… and we’re almost ready to share the transformation. Not the easiest project, or year to undertake it, but the clearest of vision for the women & girl’s lifestyle and health hub still on course.
We put as much love and restoration into a space as the people we hope to welcome into it. Watch for launch news imminent!

As November begins, we prepare to not only remember, but also to act. It is our actions that pay the greatest tribute to those who have, and continue to serve. A little sneak if the window coming together at the The Good Karma Store. The dress created with young people included Belgium lace to represent Flanders’s, a French lace peplum and black ribbon trim to symbolise our sorrow for those lost. The window will contain a display of each of the armed forces and you’ll find photographs and stories of serving men and women known to, or related to, our Wellbeing in Action team. We hope you love the finished scene and it gives you something in Union Street to stop to pause and reflect as you enjoy your hard won liberty and peace. 🌺🌺🎖️

As Halloween draws near, we have a rail of costumes all for under £5 to help keep the fun in the experience rather than a huge money pressure. And, of course, if you are struggling to make ends meet and Halloween is just a day to brush aside and hope you can actually feed your kids, then just discretely let us know and a costume is free to you - and we can help with the other priority stuff too. Just ask. 🫶🎃
