This young woman has been so brave with everything that has been thrown at her 🥰🥰
Jenny is a 26-year-old lady currently in our hospice with metastatic melanoma, a skin cancer that has spread to other parts of her body. While Jenny’s final wish was to go to Centre Parcs last weekend with her mum and two sisters, she was sadly too unwell to make the trip. So instead, Rowcroft’s team put on a special pamper afternoon for Jenny and her family. In less than 24 hours, a room was beautifully adorned with balloons and flowers in Jenny’s favourite colour, and a delicious cream tea and some bubbles were provided to make it a magical afternoon, with Abby and Rosie from Sass beauty lounge, Paignton, kindly giving manicures to Jenny and her family.
“The afternoon was amazing,” said Jenny. “Going to Center Parcs had always been the goal but when this couldn’t happen spending time with the family in one room was the most important thing. Often when you are poorly you only see one or two people at a time. I’m so thankful to everyone who donated all the treats, and for all the extra touches like having my nails done, and for having some special treats like the fairy lights wrapped around my bed.”
Rowcroft’s Kayleigh Hines helped to organise the pamper day. She said: “Jenny is an incredibly brave, dignified and courageous young lady. Even when she was told that the Center Parcs trip couldn’t go ahead, she allowed us to organise an alternative with a smile on her face. The afternoon was bittersweet. Knowing that this should never be happening to such a young lady is heartbreaking; then having a moment where you look around a room of noise, laughter and celebration and seeing Jenny being pampered with a smile and those all around creating a lasting memory, highlights how lucky we are to do what we do here at Rowcroft.”
Thanks so much to Jenny for kindly allowing us to share her story, and thanks to everyone who donated treats and time to make Jenny’s day so special.
