🌼 Crafty afternoons at Ashburton House...

We’ve been getting hands-on with some lovely making and crafting this week, turning simple materials into something really special. From carefully painting and shaping our petals to adding leafy finishing touches, our residents enjoyed a relaxing session filled with creativity, concentration, and plenty of smiles.

It’s amazing what you can create with a little imagination (and a splash of colour!) — and our beautiful handmade flowers are bringing a bright, springtime feel to the home. 🌷🌞

We’ve had a wonderfully busy time at Ashburton House recently, with lots to keep everyone smiling and engaged! 🎶😊

We enjoyed a fantastic visit from a singer who had residents clapping along and joining in with the music — a lovely afternoon full of laughter and familiar tunes. Alongside that, we’ve been keeping minds active with games, and getting creative with some drawing and colouring (we’ve had some brilliant artwork on show!). 🎨

And if that wasn’t enough, our lovely ladies have also been enjoying a bit of pampering with their nails done — finished off with a touch of sparkle and some very happy smiles.

Burns Night is a lovely reminder of the warmth that comes from sharing traditions, memories and a few lines of a well-loved poem. Whether you’re marking the occasion with a meal, a toast, or simply a smile, we’d like to wish all our residents, families, friends and colleagues a very happy evening.

We never come to work expecting praise — we do what we do because we genuinely care.

But it’s always incredibly warming when families take the time to share their experience.

This review for Ashburton House Care Home really meant a lot to our team. Hearing that a resident who was initially unsure about care homes has settled in so well, feels happy, and is enjoying meals and regaining strength is exactly why we do what we do every day.

☕️ Coffee Morning & Brain Boosters at Ashburton House...

There’s nothing quite like a relaxed coffee morning with good company, and this week our residents enjoyed exactly that — sharing a warm drink, plenty of chats, and some classic favourites including Sudoku, word searches, and reminiscing activities.

These sessions are a wonderful way to keep minds active while also creating a calm, sociable space where friendships can flourish. From focusing on puzzles to sharing memories and laughter around the table, it’s a simple activity that brings real comfort, confidence, and connection.

A peaceful, enjoyable morning — full of smiles, stories, and togetherness. ☕️❤️

🎨 A little bit of everything at Ashburton House!...

If there’s one thing we love at Ashburton House Care Home, it’s that no two days look the same — because we always go with what our residents fancy.

This week we’ve been enjoying a brilliant mix of karaoke, dominoes, and drawing/creative time. A random combination? Maybe… but it’s been full of laughter, friendly competition, and some wonderfully creative moments!

From belting out a favourite tune 🎶 to lining up the perfect domino 🁫 and taking time to focus with art 🖌️ — it’s all about keeping days meaningful, enjoyable, and led by our residents.

This week was all about the simple joys — games, jigsaws, and plenty of laughter. There’s something so satisfying about finding that perfect piece, and even better when it’s shared with friends (and a cuppa close by!) ☕😊

🎨🧩 A cosy start to 2026...

We’ve been easing into the new year with all things calm and creative — colouring, drawing, and relaxing jigsaws to keep minds busy and spirits high. 💛

It may be chilly outside, but inside Ashburton House we’re toasty by the log fire, with hot drinks in hand and plenty of activities to enjoy throughout the day.

🍕✨ A hands-on (and very tasty!) week at Ashburton....

This week our residents rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into making homemade pizzas from scratch — rolling the dough, spreading the sauce, sprinkling the cheese, and choosing their favourite toppings (we had everything from mushrooms and tomato to onions and ham!). There were lots of smiles, teamwork, and plenty of “just a little bit more cheese…” moments.

Alongside the cooking fun, we also spent time reflecting on the year ahead by writing our New Year goals — from getting out and about, to enjoying hobbies, staying relaxed, and making new friendships.

It was a lovely activity filled with positivity and encouragement 💚📝

🎶✨ A Special Visit at Ashburton House ✨🎶

We were delighted to welcome a very special visitor to Ashburton House before Christmas, who treated our residents to a beautiful performance of Christmas songs played on her violin 🎻🎄

The music filled the room with festive cheer and created such a lovely, calming atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. It was a truly special moment that brought smiles all around.

After lunch, the celebrations continued with some cosy Christmas films, giving everyone the perfect chance to relax and enjoy the rest of the day together.

Thank you to our wonderful young performer for sharing her talent.

🌟 Community Connections...

Recently, we enjoyed a lovely visit to the church next door with one of our residents to attend Sunday service.

It was a peaceful and meaningful outing, offering a wonderful opportunity to connect with familiar surroundings, reflect, and enjoy the beauty and history that Ashburton has to offer. Having such easy access to community spaces like this is something we truly cherish.

Outings like these remind us how important it is to support our residents in maintaining their routines, interests, and connections beyond the home.
