Fiat 500 for an engine control unit...🤔

This Fiat was initially booked in for a replacement ECU as a previous garage said this was likely the cause of the engine overheating due to the cooling fan not operating.
We explained we would have to investigate this issue and an ECU was unlikely but if required we could fit and programme this.

Just sorting out the workshop before we are back to work full time tomorrow after Xmas.

We have made a Discovery😉.

If you know us here at JTD you will know we prefer our ovals Blue🔵 rather than Green🟢.
But when a fellow garage owner said he was struggling with this Discovery Sport.
We would try and help him out👍🏼.
The complaint was restricted performance message and an exteme lack of power with "all" the fault codes.

"You just plug it in don't you"
This sort of talk is banded around alot within the motor industry. Below are details of a case where a "Plug in" would never had helped the situation.
The owner of this vw van, came to us with various warning lights on,and in limp home mode.
Experience, knowledge and a logical approach was key to this one.

Mechanical engine testing with no stripdown😉

I was contacted by a local car sales place, to see if I could help with a Vauxhall.
They already knew it had a compression issue but wanted to know if the repair involved removal of the cylinder head or was the problem terminal......?🤔
