Neuroskeletal & Bowen Technique Devon

Neuroskeletal & Bowen Technique Devon I am qualified in the Bowen Technique and also Neuroskeletal Therapy. These techniques allow me to assess and treat many aches and pains very quickly.

The Bowen Technique

The Bowen Technique is a Remedial Soft Tissue Manipulation Therapy that uses gentle rolling movements on precise locations of the body. The aim of treatment is to stimulate the body to correct its own problems, thus providing quick and lasting results. The Bowen Technique is becoming increasingly used by physiotherapists, chiropractors and osteopaths who find the simple, strai

ght forward and gentle approach not only to be very effective, but suitable for everyone from babies to the elderly. What it the Bowen Technique? The Bowen Technique is a relatively modern therapy originated by Thomas Ambrose Bowen who was born in Geelong, Australia. Its remarkable ability to get quick and effective results has seen its popularity gradually spread around the world. For many people it is the first choice of treatment for any aches and pains that may occur. A treatment consists of the application of very gentle rolling movements across muscles and other soft tissue at key locations on the body. The result of these rolling movements is a stimulus to the body that encourages self regulation - allowing the body to resolve health problems for itself. The holistic nature of each therapy session means that the therapist never treats only an isolated area - the whole body it always treated. It is difficult to compare the Bowen Technique to other therapies. There is no deep pressure applied, there is no massage used and there is no crunching/clicking of joints. What can it safely treat? The Bowen Technique is most recognised for its use in resolving muscular and joint problems, but it can help with almost any health concern you may have. Sports injuries
Work related injuries
Stress & tension based problems
Hayfever & breathing problems
Digestive problems
General relaxation
Postural problems
Lymphatic problems
Headaches / Migraines
Chronic fatigue
Eczema

If you are not sure whether the Bowen Technique is suitable for your health condition, please contact the therapist, who will be able to advise you. What to expect at a treatment

Before your first treatment you will be asked to fill in a detailed health questionnaire. This will help the therapist to have a comprohensive understanding of the major influences on your health and wellbeing. At the beginning of the session the therapist may ask a few follow-up questions and you will have an opportunity to ask questions and outline the problems you want to resolve. You will lye down and relax whilst the treatment is performed. In the first part of the session the whole body is treated, from head to toe. As the therapist works through this sequence of moves he will be assessing the body and, picking up on where there are muscular tensions and other disturbances. In the second part of the session the therapist will return to areas that need more work and use deeper techniques and procedures to help restore function to those areas. One of the most important features of a Bowen treatment are the pauses that are placed regularly throughout the session. The therapist will administer a sequence of manipulations and then leave the client for up to 4 minutes. It is during this time that the body is responding and changing as a result of the stimulus that has just been applied. A lot of clients are initially surprised at how such a small amount of contact time with the therapist can yield such big improvements. The full effect of a Bowen session may not be felt straight away. It is common for changes to be occuring over the following three days. How many sessions are required? This is a difficult question to answer and varies from person to person. It is most common to have a course of 3-6 sessions on a weekly basis, and then to evaluate the progress. If after 6 sessions more are required they can be less frequent. Sessions may occur once every 2-4 weeks. The results of Bowen sessions are cumulative; the effect builds from one session to the next. Maintenance Sessions

Once a problem has been resolved it should stay that way, unless your daily activities cause it to return. For some people, their job or sports may require that 'top-up' sessions are needed periodically to prevent problems returning. For some people Bowen may not be able to totally resolve a problem but may be able to keep symptoms under control and prevent a worsening of the condition. For these people maintenance sessions allow them to function better in daily life.

Thermal Imaging and Heart Rate Variance (HRV) performed at the first session, were followed by AMN therapy and neuro-stimulations. The rescans were taken 2 days later.

There is a definite improvement in the thermal imaging including a tear drop area of redness on the left side of the image almost cleared.

The HRV shows that there were no atopic beats (missed/skipped heart beats) in the follow up scans. Also, they have moved from sympathetic to parasympathetic, also the mental stress score has reduced from 100 to 41.

The AMN muscle testing found issues with the left vestibular system (inner ear) with correlations to the jaw, right sphenoid bone & left ankle. This was connected to a limbic issue relating to the gallbladder and a rivalry conflict. This was all connected to the Emotional Motor System. A recalibration was performed and neurology drill prescribed to work with at home.

I just received another positive feedback from a client.

‘Hi Andy. I just wanted to let you know, I am not sure how it works, but you immediately fixed the issue with my shoulder pain. Thank you. I have gone back to Judo last night after training light for two weeks with no issue’.

Manual Muscle Testing indicated four muscles that were not functioning correctly on his right side. Interestingly the shoulder problem was on the left side.

We found that the root of the problem was related to circadian rhythm and his left vestibular system (inner ear). We corrected this and found that all the dysfunctional muscles now tested correctly.

The bowen technique was then used to reinforce the corrections.

This has completely cleared an ongoing shoulder issue in just one session.

My mum recently needed to spend some time in hospital, when she came out her sleeping was really poor.

She was feeling really lethargic during the day and was waking up at roughly 4am every morning and unable to get back to sleep.

Using AMN kinesiology, I did a general screening through the limbic, respiratory, gastro-intestinal, immune system with nothing indicated until I got to circadian rhythm.

The circadian rhythm dysfunction seemed to be relating to the liver. I checked deeper into liver function and found nothing.

I then used the AMN sleep screen, which determined that gaba levels were too high. I recalibrated this and re-evaluated. Then noradrenaline was indicated, so I recalibrated that. Then everything was clear.

I then checked her sleep clock and found it to be 3 hours ahead. This may explain why she was waking up at 4am, her body was 3 hours ahead and thought it was 7am.

I recalibrated the sleep clock and then rechecked the liver that had previously been indicated, it was now ok.

Since then she has been sleeping normally and not waking up at 4am and also feeling relaxed when she wakes up.

I work primarily with AMN Kinesiology along side the Bowen Technique and have a great set of tools for helping not only with physical aches and pains, but also a lot of other issues as well.

It’s always good when you can help someone in your own family with their health.

My mum had pain in her left sacral/hip area, which was causing a dull ache down into the left leg. She was also feeling very tired. This had been going on for 2-3 weeks.

I performed 3 treatments which combined AMN kinesiology & Bowen Technique for her which reduced the pain, but it kept returning after only a few days.

I decided to performed an Electro-Acupuncture Scan (EAV) and the graph indicated too much energy in all the meridians (Graph 1). Whenever I see a graph like this it usually indicates general/systemic inflammation in the body.

Based on the EAV scan, I used AMN’s Inflammation screening as a starting reference point and this led to a kidney/fluid balance issue relating to the adrenals and dehydration

I performed an AMN re-calibration and then did a re-scan; there was an immediate improvement (Graph 2).

In the hours that followed she reported feeling a lot more energy and the pain had reduced significantly

Several hours later another scan showed even more improvement, with the majority of the meridians returning to a green colour indicating normal energy (Graph 3).

It seemed that simply helping the body to resolve an inflammatory issue was what was really needed to make progress in this case.

Follow-up sessions will now hopefully be able to be more effective in correcting the deeper aspects, now that inflammation is not so much of an issue.

I received a wonderful feedback from a client I treated yesterday.

‘Morning Andy! I just wanted to let you know that my back has been pretty much stable since yesterday, one or two twinges but the main pain I've had for 20 odd years has gone!! I was able to walk the dogs with my hubby this morning for the first time in years and haven't had any painkillers at all since our session. I did feel like I'd been hit by a bus yesterday and was really emotional last night but cannot tell you how much better I feel today. I just cant quite believe it!!!! Anyway, I just wanted to thank you so, so, much because whilst I feel like I may need a few more sessions just to keep things stable, there's a hope for the future that I didn't have, in fact I thought I would end up not being able to walk!!! I am so grateful and thanking God today for giving you such an amazing gift of healing. Thanks again Andy. Will update you in a few days to let you know how I'm getting on but for now, all great!!’
