...Tonight is my last Total Birthing class—for now. 💛

After 6 ½ incredible years, it’s time for me to step back. This journey has been more than just teaching—it’s been about connection, support, and witnessing the strength of so many amazing women and families. I’ve had the absolute privilege of being part of your stories, and I can’t begin to express how much that has meant to me.

I’ll still be offering private Empowered Birth Workshops, but this chapter is closing. I have so many emotions—gratitude, sadness, and peace in knowing this is the right time.

Thank you for letting me be part of something so special. I will miss it more than words can say. ❤️

🙈 CLASS WHATSAPP GROUPS 🙈

One of my favourite things about running Total Care Antenatal is watching how the bond between mums continues long after our classes end! When a course wraps up, I keep the WhatsApp group open until all the babies have arrived and a few months have passed—just so I can keep supporting, encourage meet-ups, and be there whenever needed.

I love seeing your messages, the updates on your little ones, and the photos from your meet-ups! After about six months from the last birth, I do archive the chat (because, well, inbox tidying 😅), but don't worry! I still check for @ notifications and am always here for a private chat if any of you need me.

The support you all show each other is incredible, and it warms my heart to see our little community thriving beyond the classes 💛 Keep those meet-ups and messages coming!

🩷 HI, ITS ME 🩷

It's been a while since I've posted a photo of myself, so here I am 😁

I first took the photo and thought I looked gross with my winkles, dragged through a hedge hair and tired eyes. I played around with a filter that made me look incredible but it felt weird posting it because I know I don't look like a baby faced 20 year old anymore, my friends and family know this and the parents that come to my classes know this. So I stuck to the original 🫶

I'm trying to be more body confident for my kids. I even bought a bikini this summer (strictly only for playing in the paddling pool at home at the mo, maybe next year...🤷‍♀️), to try and promote body positivity at home. None of us are perfect, but we should all be so proud of our bodies, one day we'll look back and be glad that we made the most of out amazing bodies.

Anyway, not sure where this little ramble came from, but its always good to talk about this stuff, isn't it 🥰

🌸 Rules For Visiting A Postpartum Mother 🌸

Be the best support for new mums by following these simple rules:

1. Always ask permission before visits!
2. Keep your visits short unless you're helping around the house!
3. Don't come empty handed! Bring something for mum!
4. Make the visit about mum ask how she is and what she needs.
5. If she's not ready for visitors, leave her a meal at the door
6. Don't visit if you've had a cold or been unwell.
7. Avoid smoking at least 2 hours before visiting.
8. Wash your hands thoroughly before holding the baby.
9. Help with chores, like laundry or washing up.
10. Don't expect to hold the baby.

Have I missed any?

🌟 Weaning Wisdom 🌟

Did you know baby food companies often label products as suitable from 4 months? But early weaning should only be done under a paediatrician's advice for specific medical reasons, like severe reflux.

Research says...A baby should:
- Sit up independently
- Have the hand-eye coordination to pick up food
- Be capable of swallowing food

Most babies reach these milestones by 6 months!

Why 6 Months?
- Gut maturity reduces the risk of allergies and gastrointestinal issues.
- Improved nutrient absorption from solid foods.
- Reduced risk of childhood obesity.

Signs Your Baby is Ready:
- Shows interest in what others are eating.
- Has lost the tongue-thrust reflex.
- Seems unsatisfied with milk feeds alone.

For babies with severe reflux, early weaning might be recommended to help with weight gain and keeping solids down.

🌟 THE TRUTH ABOUT DUE DATES 🌟

Did you know that your "due date" is just an estimate? Only about 4% of babies are born on their actual due date! 🤰

Dr. Sara Wickham reminds us, “The idea that a baby will be born on a specific date is a guess at best and can cause unnecessary stress.” It’s important to understand that your baby will come when they’re ready, and every pregnancy is unique.

🌸 WHY RELAXATION IS KEY DURING PREGNANCY 🌸

Pregnancy can be a time of excitement, but it also comes with its share of stress. That's why relaxation is so crucial for both mum and baby. When you take the time to relax, you:
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Improve sleep quality
- Promote a healthy pregnancy
- Helps you to bond with your baby
- Slows down time so you can be present and mindful, even just for a moment

At Total Birthing, I understand the importance of relaxation. That’s why each of my classes ends with a guided relaxation session, helping you connect with your body and baby. Join me to experience the benefits of a calm and peaceful pregnancy journey.

✨️ PLANNING A HOSPITAL BIRTH? ✨️

Welcoming a new baby is incredible, but a hospital room can feel impersonal. Transform it into a cozy space with these tips:

1. Personal Comfort Items
- **Pillow and Blanket:** Hospital ones can be uncomfortable. Bring your own.
- **Clothing:** Pack a labour gown, robe, or pajamas, and cozy socks/slippers.
- **Family Photos:** Emotional support from pictures of loved ones.

2. Soothing Aromatherapy
- **Essential Oils:** Check if the hospital allows them. Lavender, chamomile, and eucalyptus are great for relaxation.
- **Diffuser:** A portable diffuser can disperse calming scents.

3. Personalized Lighting
- **LED Candles:** Flameless candles offer warm, ambient light.
- **String Lights:** Battery-operated ones add warmth.
- **Dimmed Lighting:** If adjustable, dim the room lights.

4. Music and Sounds
- **Playlist:** Create a calming playlist or nature sounds.
- **Speaker:** A Bluetooth speaker for better sound.
- **Headphones:** Noise-canceling headphones to block unwanted noise.

5. Personal Touches
- **Birth Affirmations:** Hang positive affirmations or quotes.
- **Favorite Snacks:** Pack some of your favourite snacks.

6. Supportive Environment
- **Birth Partner:** Ensure they know how to support you.
- **Doula:** If you have one, they can provide additional comfort and continuous support.

7. Entertainment
- **Tablet or Laptop:** Load with movies, TV shows, or series.
- **Books or Magazines:** For distraction.
- **Phone Charger:** A long cable to keep devices powered.

✨ My Antenatal Classes: Where Empowerment and Lifelong Friendships Begin! ✨

I was swimming with my kids earlier, and I bumped into two incredible mums who met each other in some of my very first baby classes in Chudleigh over four years ago. It's not just their bond that's stood the test of time; it's the beautiful friendship their little ones have cultivated too!

Antenatal classes are more than just learning; they're about forging connections and building a support network that lasts, and seeing these friendships blossom between the children as well brings so much joy. It's a reminder of the incredible journey they've been on together.

To all the expecting mums out there, embrace these classes not just for the knowledge they impart but for the friendships waiting to be discovered. You never know where they might lead! 💕

❗️ SPACES AVAILABLE ❗️

I don't get to promote my classes that often as they usually sell out so quickly, but for some reason this coming term has 2 spare spaces! So here i am!

Total Birthing, a comprehensive 6-week program designed to empower expectant mothers on their journey to childbirth. Each session, lasting 1.5 hours, combines hypno-style breathing techniques, yoga-inspired movements to support your body during pregnancy and labour, progressive educational content tailored to each week, and guided relaxation exercises fostering a deep connection with your baby. Our woman-only classes provide a supportive and nurturing environment. Additionally, I facilitate a WhatsApp group for each term, fostering ongoing friendship and support among participants even after classes finish. These classes are ideally suited for mothers-to-be starting from their second trimester onwards.
