Are you interested in taking part in a community cooking course?

We are offering a free community cooking course for a small number of people at the Cwtch Hub CIC on Union Street in Newton Abbot. The course will enable you to learn new cooking and baking skills as well as increase your confidence in the kitchen. It will also include a session on preserving food to make your ingredients last longer and reduce food waste.

For a lot of our clients it can be a struggle to afford all of the essentials, not just food. And being able to look (and smell!) your best is important, particularly if you're already feeling low and worrying about money.

That's why we try to provide toiletry and cleaning packs for those who need them, and there are a number of items that we are short of at the moment (see below).

If you're able to donate anything to us at the moment, we'd be grateful for donations of any of the following things. We know things are tough for lots of people at the moment, but any and all donations make a huge difference to our work in supporting residents across the Teignbridge District.

We have a number of collection points across Newton Abbot or you can drop them off directly to us at our shop in Buckland.

We're grateful to everyone who donated to our food bank in 2025, whether it was a financial donation or a donation of food, or both! We know things were really tough for a lot of people last year so we are very grateful for the ongoing support given by so many of you, particularly around Harvest and Christmas time.

As a result of your incredible generosity, there are a number of items that we currently have a lot of (see the list on the image), so if you are considering donating any items to the food bank over the next couple of months, please keep an eye out for our weekly wish lists on Facebook or contact us directly to find out what we need most.

Thank you again for all of your support - we couldn't do what we do without you!

We've got a huge amount of potatoes, carrots, cauliflowers, mushrooms, mince pies, crisps and herbs. If anyone would like to come in to our shop in Buckland to collect some excess stock, please do.

Please bring your own bags if you're able to.

Now that it's getting colder and the wet and windy weather is moving in, we like to include porridge oats and porridge pots in our food parcels. At the moment, our stocks of these are running low and we need your help.

If you're able to donate a bag of oats or a couple of porridge pots to us, we have a number of collection points across Newton Abbot, or you can drop them directly to us at our shop in Buckland.

We've still got an enormous amount of eggs, sprouts, carrots and parsnips from supermarkets. We've also had a lots of pastries, bread and rolls from Lidl this morning so lots to go!

If anyone would like to come and collect some from us at our shop in Buckland, please pop in between 10am and 1pm today (Tuesday) and Wednesday.
