Dry skin still needs exfoliation. Honestly, dry skin is usually one of the skin types that benefits from it the most.
If your skin is looking dull, feeling rough, makeup suddenly looks patchy, or your products seem to just sit there doing nothing, you probably have a buildup of dead skin sitting on the surface.
The issue is most people swing too far one way or the other. They either never exfoliate, or they absolutely hammer their skin with scrubs, peel pads, cleansing brushes, and acids they donāt understand.
Neither is good skin care.
Exfoliation should help the skin function better. Smoother texture, clearer pores, more glow, better product absorption. It should not leave your face tight, shiny, stinging, peeling, or angry.
This is exactly why Iām big on gentle exfoliation done properly. Enzymes, mandelic acid, professional peels when appropriate, and retinoids used correctly can make such a difference to the skin without wrecking the barrier in the process.
And please stop scrubbing your face like it owes you money. Those harsh gritty scrubs and overuse of acids are one of the fastest ways to end up with sensitised skin.
And whatever you take away, you must give back.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. š§š§š§
