The perfect tribute for a wonderful Gent 🫜🥬🍅

We created this lovely funeral tribute for a much loved gent who grew salad many years ago 🫜
From lettuce to vine tomatoes, this tribute featured all his specialities, along with local narcissi and alstromeria 🫜🍅🥬

It is lovely be able to create tributes which are so unique and special 🫜🥬

Staff at our Plympton branch kindly donated to the local food bank in December and have received this lovely thank you letter that we'd like to share with you.

"To everyone at Walter C Parson

Christmas may seem as though it is in the distant past rather than less than a month ago but your kindness made it a much happier time for many of our clients.

During December we fed a record monthly total of 207 people including 85 children, which took our total for 2025 as a whole to 1,398 people, 573 of whom were children. Thanks to the generosity of people and organisations like you we were also able to provide some Christmas extras, that many of us take for granted, to 81 households.

We gratefully acknowledge your donation weighing 9.0kg in December.

None of the work we do would be possible without people like you who continue to donate food, money or other resources to support those who are struggling in Plympton and the surrounding area.

Did you know that there are now two new Crematoria in the Plymouth area?

🔎 The Park Crematorium
📍205 Merafield Road, Plympton, PL7 1UQ

The Park opened in August 2024 when Efford and Weston Mill closed for cremations. There are three modern, bright, comfortable ceremony rooms, accommodating 120, 80 and 12 mourners.

🔎 Tamar Valley Crematorium
📍 Tamerton Road, Roborough, Plymouth, PL6 7BQ

Tamar Valley opened in October 2025. Located on the edge of Dartmoor and set in long-established woodland, the chapel has seating for 80 mourners.

For the past two years, Ayesha Slader, Funeral Director at our Saltash and Torpoint offices, has been President of the Cornwall Area Federation of the National Association of Funeral Directors. As her term as President comes to an end, we are delighted to announce that she has been selected to take up a new national role on the Board of Membership.

Ayesha was pleased to explain what her new role involves.

“I’m delighted to share that I have a new role within the NAFD on the Board of Membership. This new venture gives me the opportunity to represent NAFD members across Devon and Cornwall and further afield. Over the next three years, I’ll be working alongside a fantastic, nationally representative board, championing the needs of funeral directors of all sizes and ensuring their voices remain at the heart of every decision we make.

In essence, the Board of Membership oversees the full member journey, from setting and reviewing application criteria to tracking renewals, lapses, and engagement, all to ensure a consistent, high-quality experience for every member, wherever they are in the UK.

I’m genuinely excited for what lies ahead and look forward to contributing to the work this role offers.

We were honoured to choose Man Down UK as our nominated charity for the National Association of Funeral Directors Dinner & Dance 💃🕺

Thanks to an amazing turnout and the generosity of everyone who attended, we raised £740! 🎉

This incredible amount will fund a Man Down UK support group for 6 months, helping to provide a safe, confidential space for individuals facing mental health challenges.

Thank you to everyone who supported the evening - together, we’re making a real difference. 💪✨
