Ever wondered what actually happens at a crematorium?

For many, the cremation process can feel like a mystery — and that can make things more complicated during an already emotional time. That’s why we’re encouraging our community to visit the Torbay Crematorium Open Day on Saturday, 26th July, from 10am to 2pm.

You’ll have the chance to:
Take a behind-the-scenes tour.
Discover how the crematory team provides compassionate support to families.
Ask any questions in a calm, supportive setting.

At Christopher’s Family Funerals, we’ve been guiding families through funeral choices for over 175 years. One thing we can be certain of: understanding what to expect brings comfort and clarity. That’s why events like this matter.

Whether you’re planning ahead or simply curious, this open day is an excellent opportunity to learn in a no-pressure, welcoming environment.

🔥 URGENT CALL TO ACTION: WE NEED YOUR HELP 🔥

From The Good Funeral Guide CIC

We’ve spent hundreds of unpaid hours creating a careful, fair, and vital questionnaire about people’s real experiences of direct cremation.

We’re doing this to gather the evidence no one else will. Not the advertisers. Not regulators. Not the big-money providers.

🟢 But we have a problem: after a month, we only have 47 responses.

That’s not enough to speak truth to power.
That’s not enough to challenge £32 million in advertising spend.
That’s not enough to protect the public from being misled.

👉 If you care about funeral truth, choice, dignity, or transparency — we need you. Today.

Please:
1. Take 5 minutes right now to share this link on your website, your socials, your email list, your client newsletter.
2. Tell people why it matters.
3. Don’t just like this post — act.

Let’s talk about direct cremation 🕊️
While direct cremation offers simplicity and affordability, it doesn't involve a service, attendance by family and friends, or a specific occasion for them to come together.
It's important to be aware that some families later wish they had had that shared moment to say their farewells.
This is why we always encourage open conversations with your loved ones. Decisions made without discussion can often lead to uncertainty or even regret for those involved.
When the time comes, choosing a local funeral director is also a significant decision. Opting for someone within your community means you're working with someone who understands local needs and values, rather than a remote call centre.
As a local funeral company, we can also offer greater flexibility. If your plans change or you decide to add a service, we can accommodate those needs. This kind of flexibility is often not available with national online providers.
We believe in planning with care and open communication. If you'd like to discuss direct cremation or any other options in more detail, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to help when it matters most.
Let’s plan with care. Let’s talk.

We are inspected, we are compliant and we are ready for broader regulation of the funeral sector. We welcome the recent findings of the Fuller Inquiry, providing care to families and their loved ones is more than an honour, it’s a responsibility and one that should be provided only by funeral directors who adhere to the highest standards. Always look for the SAIF logo.
