At Newton House, we have our planned daily group activities, aswell as in our lounges, homemakers and residents often take part in other activities together.

Today we made the most of the final sun this morning and came inside to play some ball games, where we had a play off between Andy, Joe, Jeanette and Mary.

In their lucky matching hats, our married couple team soared ahead in the game, and came out the winners!

We had a great afternoon of fun, and well done to Joe and Jeanette on their victory.

Sunday 31st May - Bee-Friendly Gardening Talk Postponed.

We are sorry to announce that due to sickness, the Glasgow Beekeepers Association are unable to attend our 'Bee-Friendly Gardening Talk' event on Sunday afternoon, and the event will not be taking place on Sunday.

We are working with the team to arrange a new date, and will share this on our page when confirmed.

We apologies for any inconvience caused, and hope you see you all at the future date!

Monday 15th June
📺 10:30am – Scotland vs Haiti Game Screening in the Cinema
🎤 2:30pm – Live Music with Scott D

Tuesday 16th June
🏆 2pm - 5pm – Newton House Little Green Cup with Newton Mearns Lawn Bowls Club
Enjoy live music from Sharon Stevens, refreshments and a fantastic afternoon on the bowling green.

Wednesday 17th June
⚽ 2:30pm – Fit-Baw Exercise Session
Open to everyone to join in the fun.

Thursday 18th June
📖 2:30pm – Football Memories Session with Stephen
Exploring the history of football in Scotland.

Another wonderful session with Lucy from Creative Mojo!

Whilst some of us were out in the sun, we stayed inside and did some mindful painting. Everyone got stuck in painting their individual pieces - although there was some chatting, it was a calm and quiet experience as everyone focussed on their work. It was a big group effort, and such a joy to see it all come together.

The sun is out, and doesn't it feel lovely? ☀️

With the unpredictable Scottish weather - this might be the only sun we have this year, so Newton House residents have really made the most of it! Our hats are on, we're covered up with suncream and soaking in those rays.

We've been doing as many as our activities as we can out into the garden, listening to our entertainers, spending time with family and visitors in the sunshine; and we've been doing our walking groups around the local area.

Join us every Wednesday, 2–4pm at our Community Café ☕

An informal, welcoming space for anyone who may find traditional cafés overwhelming — including those living with dementia, Parkinson’s, or similar conditions, as well as their partners, families, and carers.

This is a relaxed, self-service café where you can take your time, enjoy some company, and feel safe to ask questions about care and future planning.

There’s no pressure — just a supportive environment and friendly faces. We simply ask for a small donation.

All freshly made by our fantastic Chef and kitchen team — from homemade cakes and bakes to light refreshments.

Last week we hosted our !

Thanks to you, we raised an amazing £220 for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland!

We had a wonderful afternoon of quizzing, guessing the names of different tartan and eating some delicious sweet treats. We were joined by Louise from the charity, who got stuck in with the activities with our residents.

Thanks so much to everyone who donated, the kitchen for providing cakes, Louise for joining us and to Jean, the superstar who donated such delicious homemade baked goods for the bake sale!

It's and training manager Jan has been running some Dementia Awareness Mornings for us.

Staff, families and residents have all been taking part in these informative and interactive sessions. It's important to have space to ask questions, talk about experience and build knowledge about dementia.
