🧘Yoga, Smiles, and Little Visitors at Mearns House! 🧘

This week’s yoga session with Monica was extra special – we welcomed some lovely little guests from Calderwood Nursery!

Our residents absolutely adored having the children join in, sharing stretches, giggles, and gentle moments of connection. The energy in the room was heart-warming, and it’s safe to say everyone left feeling uplifted and relaxed 🌟

We’re already looking forward to having the nursery back again soon – these intergenerational moments mean so much to us all!

Pat and Amy enjoyed a delightful visit to an art exhibition at Whitecraig Tennis Club – and it was extra special, as Pat’s lovely daughter Loretta was one of the featured artists!

Loretta’s artwork was truly inspiring, and it was a joy to see her talent on display. The morning was filled with creativity, pride, and plenty of smiles – a beautiful way to spend the day

🌍 World Kindness Day at Mearns House 🌍

To mark World Kindness Day, our residents got creative and thoughtful by making beautiful positivity stones – each one painted with uplifting messages and colourful designs to brighten someone’s day!

Although the weather wasn’t quite on our side for a trip to Rouken Glen, we’ve proudly displayed the stones for our families and residents to enjoy. They’re already spreading smiles indoors! 🎨✨

As soon as the sun peeks back out, we’ll be heading to Rouken Glen to share these little tokens of kindness with the wider community.

Remembrance Day Reflections at Mearns House 💖

This Remembrance Day, we spent a thoughtful afternoon honouring those who served, through creativity and connection. Our residents embraced their artistic side by crafting beautiful handmade poppies and writing heartfelt poems that truly moved us all

A special mention to John, who excelled himself with his touching poetry – we’re incredibly proud of his work and the meaning it brought to the day 📖

To round off our tribute, we gathered to watch Saving Private Ryan, reflecting together on the courage and sacrifice of so many. It was a powerful way to bring the day to a close

Cheese & Wine Afternoon Delight! 🧀🍷

What a fabulous time we had in the cinema room, coming together for a relaxing cheese and wine afternoon!

Huge thanks to our wonderful kitchen colleagues for setting the scene so beautifully

Isobel took the lead with flair, orchestrating the event with such joy, We were treated to a virtual concert that had everyone smiling, and Dennis brought the house down with a heartfelt rendition of My Way 💛

🌺🎨 Preparing for Remembrance Day at Mearns Care Home 🎨🌺

John, Catherine, Nessie and Nessie’s lovely daughter Elaine spent a wonderful afternoon in our café crafting poppies for our display. 🌸 We explored different creative techniques – from watercolour painting and cotton bud designs to collage art.

It was a truly special time filled with conversation, creativity and reflection, as we remembered those who went before us. ❤️

🌈 Intergenerational Connections 🌈

John and Amy had the pleasure of spending 1-to-1 time at Calderwood Nursery for their Grandparents Day event — and what a heart-warming morning it was!

From friendly chats to shared smiles (and of course a good cuppa!), it was a beautiful opportunity to connect across generations and build meaningful relationships.

We’re already looking forward to welcoming the children to our yoga session next week — a chance to stretch, breathe, and bond even more.

⛳️ Golf in Society Away Day! ⛳️

What a fantastic afternoon! Our residents were kindly invited by Golf in Society for a fun-filled day of putting, laughter and connection 💬😊

We were warmly welcomed with sandwiches, soup and tea/coffee on arrival followed by a tempting selection of sweets (some may have been tucked away for later! 😄🍬)

Alistair and Ian had a brilliant time enjoying the fresh air, great conversations and plenty of laughs. A huge congratulations to Ian who was awarded a medal for winning in his group! 🏅👏

The drive home was just as lovely - filled with reminiscing and singing songs together 🎶

🍓🍒 Ladies’ Breakfast Club Mondays at Mearns House! 🍒🍓

Our residents enjoyed a delicious selection of pastries and fresh fruit, lovingly prepared by our talented kitchen colleagues.

We also spent time reading The Mearns Times, a thoughtful creation kindly put together by students from Castle High 📰

We truly cherish these intergenerational connections and all the joy, learning and laughter they bring 💞
