🎶✨ A Little Twist in Today’s Dance & Sing Session! ✨🎶

Our Dance & Sing session took a fun new direction as we mixed things up with some gentle yoga and Pilates! It was lovely to explore something different and keep everyone moving in new ways

We’re already looking forward to welcoming Monica back next week, but the change of pace brought lots of smiles and plenty of stretching!

Meanwhile, Maureen led her usual Thursday crossword, keeping minds active, focused, and engaged.

We’re incredibly grateful for the wonderful connections Maureen has built with our residents, it truly feels like one big family in our home 💛🏡

🧩 Crossword & Trivia Fun! 🧠✨

We enjoyed a brilliant session working through our big crossword and trivia together! Residents teamed up to solve clues, share knowledge, and have a good laugh along the way.

It was a fantastic way to keep minds active while enjoying some friendly competition and great company

🎨 Design the Meallmore Whisky Label 2026 🥃

Last year, a resident named John painted a sunrise.

That painting became our whisky label.
Over 500 people voted for it.
And today, that bottle tells a story - of creativity, community and connection.

Sadly, John passed away in the summer of 2025, but his artwork lives on. His label, Leven Sunrise, is now part of Meallmore history and a reminder of why we run this competition every year.

💚⛳ Throwback to a Wonderful Morning With Golf In Society at Mearns House! ⛳💚

Throwing it back to another fantastic visit from Golf In Society, where our residents enjoyed a brilliant morning of chipping and putting!

Barbara, Isobel, Maureen and Evelyn had a wonderful time getting involved, showing great focus and determination as they practised their skills. With encouragement from Liz and the dedicated volunteers, everyone felt supported, confident and able to take part at their own pace.

There were smiles all round as shots were taken, with some fantastic aim on display and lots of friendly encouragement shared between residents. It was lovely to see everyone enjoying the activity together and celebrating each other’s little victories 💚✨

With a touch of St Patrick’s Day spirit still in the air, the atmosphere was warm, social and full of fun, a fantastic session bringing movement, confidence and connection to our residents.

Our fitbaw class with Ben kicked off the week perfectly! Ben led everyone through his usual exercises before spending some time 1‑to‑1, using the dice to make strength‑building fun, active, and engaging

There was fantastic effort, big smiles, and plenty of teamwork all around. We’re already excited for next week’s session!

💚 Throwback to a Heartwarming Afternoon at Mearns House! 💚

Throwing it back to a beautiful St Patrick’s Day celebration here at Mearns House, where our residents and our local community came together for a truly uplifting afternoon

We were delighted to welcome the minister and elders from Broom Church, who joined us for a relaxed gathering filled with friendly conversation, tea and delicious cakes, which were enjoyed by everyone! ☕🍰

Kathleen, Catherine, Alastair, Jean, Ishbel and Rena loved spending time with our visitors, sharing stories, laughter and meaningful chats. Conversations flowed naturally, touching on life, Easter and even a little St Patrick’s Day history along the way

With gentle Irish music and a light‑hearted quiz adding to the atmosphere, the afternoon was full of smiles, engagement and a real sense of togetherness.

A lovely reminder of how special community connection is, and how much joy it brings right into the heart of Mearns House ✨

🎶☕ A Bright and Busy Morning Filled With Smiles at Mearns House! 🎶☕

Our residents enjoyed a brilliant morning taking part in a fun and engaging word search activity here at Mearns House

Ian, John, Isobel, Barbara and Maureen worked together to find all the themed words, sharing ideas, helping one another and enjoying lots of conversation along the way. It was a fantastic mix of gentle brain stimulation, teamwork and plenty of smiles

Everyone added a touch of fun to the morning by wearing bright, festive hats, which brought lots of laughter and created a cheerful buzz throughout the café area

With music playing softly in the background and refreshments on hand, the atmosphere was relaxed, upbeat and full of good company

Residents later headed off to enjoy their morning golf session with some chipping and putting, the perfect way to keep active and have fun together ⛳✨

⛳💚 A Brilliant Morning of Golf & Good Company at Mearns House! ⛳💚

We had a fantastic morning at Mearns House as the Golf In Society team joined us for their fortnightly chipping and putting session!

Liz and the wonderful volunteers were amazing with our residents, offering encouragement, guidance and lots of smiles. Ian, Donald, Liz and Alastair were on top form, scoring hole‑in‑ones again and again! 👏

Liz even introduced a few fun extra challenges to keep everyone engaged and having a great time.

The session was thoughtfully adapted so everyone could take part. Ella did brilliantly, starting with soft balls to build confidence by aiming into the net, before moving on to slightly harder balls to knock down the skittles. Fantastic engagement and great fun!

To add to the cheerful atmosphere, residents, Liz and the volunteer team all dressed up for St Patrick’s Day, with Irish music and plenty of friendly chatter filling the room

Celebrating an Extraordinary 105th Birthday! 💛👑

We celebrated a truly remarkable lady, our wonderful Barbara, who turned 105! What an incredible milestone and a joy to share with her

We enjoyed a lovely gathering this afternoon with some bubbles, plenty of smiles, and lots of heartfelt celebration.

We were also joined by entertainer Marc Andrew, who filled the room with fantastic music, getting everyone singing, dancing, and joining in the fun!

One of the most special moments of the day was Barbara receiving her official birthday card from His Majesty the King. She was absolutely overjoyed, a memory we’ll treasure forever

Here’s to Barbara, a truly inspirational lady who brings so much warmth and happiness to our home. Happy 105th Birthday! 🎂🌟

A Perfect Afternoon in the Garden 🌿✨

With the sunshine making a beautiful appearance, our residents and colleagues headed out into the garden to enjoy a wonderful afternoon together!

We combined our hydration cocktail party with a very special celebration, Freda’s birthday! 🎉🎂

There were refreshing drinks, lots of chatter, and plenty of laughter shared in the fresh air. Moments like these, filled with smiles, sunshine, and togetherness, are what truly make our home feel so special

⚽ A Brilliant Fit Baw Session at Mearns House! ⚽

What a fantastic session we enjoyed at Mearns House this week! 💪

Martha, Ella, John, Donald and Betty were all in great spirits as they took on Tam in their individual Fit Baw challenges, and they certainly didn’t make it easy for him!

Each resident worked hard to push the ball away from Tam, helping to build strength in their arms while having plenty of fun along the way.

The room was full of laughter, determination and a healthy bit of friendly competition. Everyone gave it their all, cheering each other on and showing amazing teamwork throughout.

It’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm and confidence shining through, all while supporting movement, strength and overall wellbeing. A brilliant, fun‑filled session enjoyed by all! ✨

⚽ A Fantastic St Patrick’s Day Fit Baw Session at Mearns House! ⚽

Mearns House kicked off the week in the very best way, with a brilliant St Patrick’s Day‑themed Fit Baw class with Tam! 🍀💚

The room was full of energy and beautifully decorated for the occasion, and our residents got right into the spirit with their fun props, hats and headbands. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and enjoying themselves.

Donald had a fantastic time and was fully engaged throughout the session, joined by his daughter Deborah. Betty was our well‑deserved Player of the Week for her amazing effort and elegant goal finish. Maureen couldn’t stop smiling, and Martha shared just how much fun she had; the room was full of joy from start to finish!

We were delighted to welcome Tam from Fit Baw, who led a lively session focusing on upper and lower body strength, balance and coordination, all to uplifting St Patrick’s Day music. This helps support wellbeing as well as coordination and balance, all in a safe, enjoyable and social environment.

A fun‑filled morning of laughter, movement and connection, what a wonderful way to start the day! ✨
