Putting myself on the list 📋

As Mums, and I think just women in general, we have all the plates spinning and I’m guilty of putting everything and everyone top of the list. I have been struggling lately and need to practice what I preach to my clients/friends and put myself ON the list

So today I’ve done what I’ve been putting off for over 2 years. TWO YEARS ffs!

I’ve been struggling with perimenopausal symptoms since April 2022, i was almost 42 then, thought I was too young for this but apparently not, started tracking my periods and it ebbed and flowed and one month you think you’re ok then symptoms come back and hit you in the face again. These include (in order of worst to least difficult to handle) 👇🏻

- Inability to control my body temperature. I don’t sweat thank god but the overwhelming heat similar to the wave of a contraction is hideous and worse at night, in turn this leads to….

- Lack of sleep, I’m in a constant cycle of being boiling hot, slinging a fan on, the going freezing cold, insomnia then struggling to get up in the morning

- brain fog. I don’t know if this is just me, mum life or a symptom but my brain just can’t function properly

- easily irritable, like the slightest thing sets me off but I feel devoid of emotion too. I’ve always been a cryer, not now. I just don’t get emotional I feel numb from things

- Irregular periods, do not miss them but it’s hard to predict then which is inconvenient. Longest cycle on record 97 days 🙈

All of this has meant I’ve struggled with my weight and keeping in control back and forth. The physical symptoms and emotional turmoil lead to poor coping mechanisms and now admittedly I’m in a better place with that but it’s still a battle

So last week I discovered a test kit exists and it confirmed my suspicions then called my GP and got the wheels in motion for a full MOT bloods and hormone tests to see what I’m dealing with. I’m not burying my head in the sand anymore and need to be the healthiest inside as well as just worrying about my outside appearance

I don’t want there to be a shame or stigma surrounding this and if you’re struggling too you’re not alone.

Life happens! You can deal with it and whatever the next step is I’m ready for it

Feel Fabulous Friday!

The threat of a holiday being booked when I looked and felt like this was the nudge I needed to get back on plan and take control again

14 weeks on, I’ve been following step 3 and I’m just under 3 stone down and not dreading the holiday I’ve worked so hard for 👙
