🌍World Breastfeeding Week - Meet Katie 🌸

I recently moved to Newtown and wanted to connect with some other mums so decided to come along to the Newtown breastfeeding group. I have been so lucky to be welcomed by such a lovely bunch and am enjoying offering breastfeeding support.

I have been a breastfeeding peer supporter for around 5 years and have up till now mainly done online support for a twin charity (I have twins).

I am very passionate about supporting families and am training to be a midwife. I have 4 boys and my youngest Rhiw is 2.5 years old and is still enjoying breastfeeding.

🌍 World Breastfeeding Week - Meet Sophie 🌸

I chose to become a peer supporter in Powys because I've previously been a peer supporter in Wiltshire when my older kids were little. i found peer supporting to be so rewarding, helping a mum on her breast feeding journey is a great feeling.

I've breast fed all 4 of my kids and i know how hard it can be, from tongue tie, to supply issues, just not being able to get the positioning right in the early days and refusing to latch I've had a wider range of problems to over come and sharing that knowledge I've gained is a fantastic way to give back to other mums.

🌍 World Breastfeeding Week – Meet Chloe🌸

I chose to become a peer supporter because I had to navigate tongue tie and latch issues with both my son and my daughter. These challenges meant I only managed to breastfeed my son for 7 months, which left me heartbroken when our journey ended sooner than I’d hoped. Thankfully, with more support and knowledge, my daughter and I have now made it past 12 months and we’re still going strong. I’d love to help other mums continue on their breastfeeding journey too, and feel supported through the tough moments, just like I wish I’d had back then.

🌍 World Breastfeeding Week – Meet Emma 🌸

I choose to become a peer supporter because i know how important having support in this stage of motherhood is, i want to help other mothers feel supported and confident in their breastfeeding journey.

I breastfed my first child until she was 13 months and my second daughter is 17 months old and we are still loving our breastfeeding journey together!

Breastfeeding is also something I’m so passionate about because of all the amazing benefits for both mother and child😊

As part of World Breastfeeding Week, we’re introducing the amazing peer supporters behind Newtown Breastfeeding Friends Group!

Hi, my name’s Leah and I’m a breastfeeding peer supporter and chairperson of Newtown Breastfeeding Friends Group.

I work as a registered nurse and have been breastfeeding my little boy for the last 18 months. I never intended to breastfeed beyond 12 weeks and found I had very little support as none of my friends or family had breastfed beyond a few weeks.

I’d love to offer help and support to other mums who may be in a similar situation to what I was in and would love to see you come along to our weekly group.
