Hi everyone ☺️ It's Nichola here. Just wanted to share that there are still some places left on the cpcab level 2 courses starting in September. This is one of my favourite courses to teach, and I have to say I think everyone should do it. It's a great way of learning about yourself, some counselling skills and meeting lovely like minded people. Take a look! ❤️

Some extra training today. I have done some online training with Rosjke so couldn't wait to hear her talk in belfast today. Working from an attachment informed practice you need to consider the gender roles, and it's fascinating to be able to make sense of your experiences..was also great to see so many of my lovely colleagues and students. A Saturday spent with great women ❤️ Nichola xx

Absolutely love this, it's one of the reasons I became a counsellor was the battle with my own anxiety. If this is your experience know you're not alone, get in touch if you need help navigating it. Nichola ❤️❤️❤️

So, I have anxiety.

I've always had it I think. There have been seasons that it's come in waves so strong and fast it knocked me off my feet. There has also been seasons of unexplainable calm and peace.

Sometimes anxiety feels like all my senses are turned up too high. Every noise is too loud. Every touch is too rough. Every light is too bright.

Sometimes anxiety has made me silent and frozen. I feel trapped in a prison of my own fear, unable to cry out for help.

Sometimes anxiety makes normal life feel overwhelming. Everything is too much. Cleaning the mess is too much, doing the laundry is too much, paying the bills is too much.

Sometimes anxiety makes me unable to handle (read) the news or even have certain conversations with friends because if I do my mind will spin out of control.
Sometimes anxiety causes me to feel physically ill, like headaches, stomach aches, and knots in my back and neck from stress.

Sometimes anxiety feels like being completely alone in a room full of people.
Sometimes anxiety causes panic attacks so strong I can't breath and I begin to sob uncontrollably wherever I'm at (even I'm in the grocery store).

Sometimes anxiety makes me unable to sleep.

Sometimes anxiety makes me on edge and impatient with my family. That's my least favorite symptom I think.

You know what else having anxiety means?

It means I will never judge someone in the middle of a battle with mental health.
I will never wonder why she's not happy when she has so much to be thankful for.

I will never wonder why my friend who is struggling isn't calling me back.

I will never wonder why she is so scared about something that seems unreasonable.
The thing is anxiety sucks. It really does. But the more we talk about it the more we'll realize we're not alone.

Right now my seas are peaceful and calm, but if you're in the middle of a big storm I'm holding space for you because I get it.

I gotchu.
Love,
Jess

It has finally been completed 🙌 I had put this off for years, but now I can tick another box. I'm not very good at celebrating my successes big or small, but behind this certificate is lots of hard work from training courses, personal therapy and ofcourse working with my clients who place their trust in me. Am very grateful for all who support and encourage me ❤️❤️❤️🎊🎉🥳

Where we both started.. highly recommend this course ❤️❤️

Fathers day will mean different things to different people. For some it's a great way of celebrating a great father, for some it can bring up the grief of a father lost. We are thinking of you all 💙💙💙💙💙

A little bit about us...

We are Nichola Burke and Frances Lindsay and we are ‘integrative counsellors’. What this means is that we have trained in several therapeutic approaches so that we can meet each individual clients needs. Between us we have over 10 years experience of training and practicing within a GP surgery settings and within the local communities providing both counselling and su***de intervention services.

We know how hard it can be to make that first step in asking for help. We are both very open about the fact that we individually became counsellor’s because at one time (and a few since then) we needed a counsellor ourselves. Sometimes we all need space to figure out how we feel about a certain situation or issue before we can talk to our loved ones about it, and we will always endeavour to create a safe and welcoming environment to help you in this process.

We firmly believe you have the answers within yourself, its just sometimes you don’t get the time or space to figure them out, and sometimes we all need someone who is on the outside looking in with a bit of perspective or just helping you join up the dots of your story.

Counselling is not about the counsellor giving advice, rather we like to assist our clients in finding their strengths and empowering them to find their answers because the only expert in your life is you. What we bring is knowledge and experience that will help you along the path, which is always led by you.
