Why Bınge Eating Happens When You’re Alone

⚡️ firstly, we’re trying something new here for a little series to explain disordered eating with the bınge eating ‘monster’ inside of us - so to help feed the algorithm, like this; share this; repost this, hit save and comment something to make the app happy ⚡️

Why does food become louder when you’re alone?

🧠 when you’re at work; at training, or just around other people. Your mind is occupied

Any of those underlying thoughts of sadness, anxiety or anger are drown out by the fact that you are interacting with others

You might even be masking your feelings to present in a socially acceptable manner

But once you’re alone. Once the noise stops.

Those feelings and thoughts under rhe surface bubble up.

And your mind has some learned behaviour that it defaults back too …

It knows what quietens the noise

This is why emotional eating and draw of it feels louder when you’re alone
