Hi everyone, would you please consider sharing this with your friends and family.

There has been growing discussion about providing mental health training to frontline staff and council employees. While this is a positive step, I believe it’s important to recognise that meaningful mental health education doesn’t only come from government bodies or large professional organisations.

Many individuals within the community myself included have been delivering mental health training for years in a more personal, grassroots, and often more relatable way. Our lived experience, unique approaches, and direct engagement with people on the ground offer immense value.

I strongly believe that community based trainers should also have the opportunity to contribute to this important work. We deserve a seat at the table and the chance to deliver training that reflects the diverse needs and realities of the people we serve.

Wrapping up a fantastic June working with the amazing women from the Tigers Bay and Grosvenor Road communities. We explored mindfulness meditation, acupuncture, EFT (tapping), and positive mental health and wellbeing.

Over the weekend, I delivered positive mental health training to two amazing groups of women, one from Tigers Bay and the other from Governor Road. Listening to their stories, it became clear that no matter the community, the challenges they face are so often the same. We’re more connected than we think. 💬❤️

As Philip’s 22nd anniversary approached, I found myself thinking about the many training sessions I delivered over the past few months, during the weekends and evenings, moments I hadn’t yet shared.

Each one of these sessions was dedicated to my son, Philip (Pip), and to all those we’ve lost to the silent tragedy of su***de.

Many of these programs were kindly funded or supported by Newington Housing Association which I’m so thankful for their partnership in this meaningful work.

PIPS House on the Antrim Road which I bought with money loaned to me by a good friend
stands as a legacy to my son Philip Pip and others like him. While there may be efforts by management to cover the plaque at the front door with his name on it with flowers, its significance can never be hidden.

It will always be PIPS House.
A place of remembrance.
A place of hope.
A legacy that lives on.

Last weekend It was a pleasure to deliver mental health awareness training to the women’s group at Glen Community Complex. We shared wonderful stories and generated a lot of positive energy. Thank you.
