Mackey Opticians - Celebrating 75 Years: Newtownards Branch!
Our Newtownards branch has been a fixture in the community since 1977, originally established as Mr. Bailies practice on Pound Street. We relocated to the old High Street practice in 1982 and underwent a major refurbishment in late 2021, reopening our doors in early 2022.
The branch is led by Branch Manager Debbie B, a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in the optical industry Debbie B originally working with our Holywood Arches practice and has since been with the Newtownards branch for 21years. With over 2 decades of managerial experience Debbie prides herself in building confidence and trust in the practice, by striving for a top-notch customer experience and harbouring community values.
Joining Debbie B are our optometrists, Amanda and Debbie M.
Amanda has been with Mackey Opticians since 1995, having moved to the Ards area in 1993. She is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care, specializing in eye examinations, health care, and contact lens fitting. Amanda also enjoys farming with her husband on a local dairy farm.
Debbie M joined Mackey Opticians in 2017 after spending the first half of her career in England where she qualified 14 years ago. She is passionate about children's eye health and is a mother of two young boys. She also has a special interest in Night Lenses, a surgery free solution for perfect vision.
Our team is rounded out by Dispensing Assistants Pamela and Heather. Pamela joined Mackey Opticians in 2021 and brings 12 years of optical experience to the team. Heather is a recent addition to the practice with 22 years of experience in the optical industry.
