We’re thrilled to be part of the restoration of one of Belfast’s most historic landmarks, Cathedral Buildings on Donegall Street. Two-and-a-half years after the devastating fire in October 2022, this Grade B2 listed building is rising once again, blending heritage features with modern standards.

SR Fire and Security has been entrusted with installing the fire alarm system across the building, ensuring the safety and protection of the future occupants and visitors. From retail units to office spaces, our systems will provide reliable, compliant fire protection throughout this impressive four-floor development.

It’s incredible to see the painstaking restoration work – from recreated stone features and heritage-approved slate roofing to the restored grand staircase and oak panelled doors – and know that our team is helping safeguard this building for years to come.

This project is a real reminder of the vital role fire safety plays in preserving both people and places, and we’re proud to contribute to bringing Cathedral Buildings back to life as a vibrant hub for Belfast’s creative, retail, hospitality, and tech communities.

Yesterday we welcomed Charlie to the team, our newest apprentice, as he begins his first year at Belfast Met. At just 16, he already has experience in the fire and security industry through work placement, and it was during that time he discovered his passion for the trade.

We’re really impressed with his dedication and drive to do well — qualities that stand out even at this early stage of his career. Outside of work, Charlie is a keen sportsman, playing both rugby and football.

He didn’t leave empty-handed today either… we made sure he was fully kitted out with his toolbox, hard hat, uniform, boots — and even some brand-new socks! 🧰👷‍♂️🧦
