This wee peony got snapped in the gales a few weeks ago. It was just a medium sized bud and I really didn’t think it’d do. But we popped it in some water and hoped for the best...which arrived.

Lockdown feels like a period of incubation, a pregnant pause in which we confront our reality. Beginning internally then spiralling our to our family‘s, our communities, nations and world. It’s an intense time, being confronted with uncomfortable truths, feelings of inadequacy and most importantly profound suffering and distress. As I make every effort to remain open, to learn, to remain curious there is a need to grounding. To slowing life in order to process this great and necessary shift. And always, always coming back to the only reality there is- the present moment.
~
There is so much hope, a gathering and strengthening, just like the little peony bud. Seemingly against the odds, there is an opening, an awakening.

Rigidity vs stability in the joints... and in life.

Whilst doing a shoulder workshop yesterday with the epic she went into the theory that the goal in this complex joint is to encourage stability and let go of the potentially harmful rigidity.

This struck me as the case in our lives as well. It can feel comforting to stick firmly to routines, to opinions, to people even. But the rigidity that can result opens the door for distress and pain. Coming from someone who held on so tight to life she nearly smothered it!

The thing is that no two months, days or minutes will be the same (though it may feel it in lockdown!). Our ability to feel into who we are truly, to ground ourselves in the present moment, cultivates a deep stability whilst inviting an ease that gives us the courage and confidence to roll with life’s changes.

Like the trees, the oceans, the seasons... ever present and ever changing.

Heart advice for difficult times, and aren’t these strange, challenging times indeed?
~
Releasing the struggle, the story lines, the judgment. Slowing down enough to be present, perhaps though cultivating a meditation practice.
~
And ironically meditation is something I have struggled with a lot! I recently discovered the app and love it. Lots of guided visitations, mantra and guidance, just what my busy little mind needs! If you haven’t got on with other apps/methods before I’d definitely recommend giving it a go if you have time, something many of us suddenly have in abundance and which comes with its own challenges for sure.

My full moon reset...
~
Taking this evening’s lunar signal as an opportunity to take stock and course-correct using the beautiful full moon ritual passed onto me by . I’m sure I’m not alone in getting caught up in the fear and anxiety that the current landscape has triggered. For a time I feel I may have contributed to that, beseeching friends and family to take COVID-19 seriously. But I feel everyone is now acutely aware of how important and vital it is to temporarily alter our usual way of life in order to keep us all safe.
~
And so tonight I commit to letting that narrative go and instead begin to spread light and love. To take what the world has given and release the resistance it triggers in me. I’ll be learning exactly how this will take form, feeling as I go, as we all are.
~
‘The earth seems to be beseeching us to connect with joy and discover our innermost essence. This is the best way that we can benefit others.’ - Pema Chodron

This is mine, can I see yours?
~
Loving seeing all the amazing, inventive, special spaces on the gram at the mo! The more stuff pushed outta the way and piled up the better! Perfectly imperfect is the name of the game and what makes it so so cool is that it is uniquely YOURS.
~
Would love to see yours...tag 🤗

Getting out of your head and into your body
~
I’m finding I need more energising movement of late, to settle myself and come into the moment.
This little sequence is grounding due to the hip openers and the heart openers are beautifully uplifting.
~ Start in down dog, ground one knee and reach the top leg. Connect the knee to the elbow 3 times whilst engaging the core.
~ Grasp the outer foot and bring it forward for a low lunge. A few pulses here with hands behind hips to externally rotate the shoulders.
~ Walk the forward foot to the outer edge of the mat, toes out and heel in for lizard.
~ Feel into your lizard whichever way feels good. Move or find stillness.
~ Ground the outer edge of the back foot, little toes side. Lift the back knee as you sweep the lifted arm forward and back.
~ Press into 3 legged dog before finding wild thing.

The Law of Attraction and Manifestation. Especially powerful on today’s new moon!

Shedding the old to make way for the new. After a weekend of deep learning and forgiveness I’m ready to move forward.

Just completed a beautiful New Moon Ritual I learned yesterday from the amazing . It goes something like this...
~ bring to mind & write down 3 things you are grateful for right now.
~ what do you desire? Be specific. Perhaps this is something you want to let go of, cultivate or achieve. Say it out loud to give it more power and a sense of reality.
~ really imagine how it would feel to receive this, how you would react, what you would say.

I’ve got an interview for the Palliative Care Training Scheme next week so I can become a Palliative Medicine Trainee and eventually a Consultant. Sending this out into the Universe with my New Moon Ritual and having faith it will become reality soon!

Feeling the love...
~
Cultivating love has become a priority or me in recent months. First and foremost with my wee self, who I haven’t always treated the best. Making the link between loving myself and how this has enabled me to genuinely connect with others has been huge for me. It’s taken time and a hell of a lot of experience to get to this level of understanding. But it’s been worth every minute and I wouldn’t exchange those tough times now.
~
So much love to my teacher training Goddesses. To friendships old and new. Love to my family. Love to my boy. Love to my girls who I hope to teach the value of self love (they’ve got it innately and I’ve a feeling will never loose it).
~
Love to this world and all the wonderful experiences and connection the present moment can give us.
~
All of the love.
