HOPE MS Therapy Centre

HOPE MS Therapy Centre HOPE is a local Charity set up to provide accessible & affordable therapies for a range of conditions worldwide. For that support we thank you all.

The Centre was started with a small group of people with MS discussing the possible benefits of the then, new form of treatment called "Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy". This was followed soon after with the formation of H.O.P.E. (the acronym stands for "Hyperbaric Oxygen Pembrokeshire Endeavour"), as a locally Registered Charity. After some two years spent raising the necessary funds, the Centre starte

d operations on the 6th January 1986 and HBO Therapy was at last available to local people with MS. Over the years we have enjoyed very generous funding from people in all walks of life, from major companies, businesses, retail groups, other charities, the public, children and a real "lifeline" of monies from Collection Boxes. Without this continued revenue stream we would cease to exist as we are today. As mentioned above, we are totally dependant on funding in the form of donations and sponsorships from businesses and the public at large. Our projected annual costs in 2008/2009 will amount to over 60,000 so you can understand why our very existence is in the hands, and pockets, of the very generous people of Pembrokeshire and Friends of H.O.P.E.

Today is :- YOUNG CARERS ACTION DAY!

Young carers give so much of their own time and energy to care for family members who need support. Without proper breaks, it can be overwhelming.

Who are unpaid carers? An unpaid carer is someone who looks after a relative, friend or neighbour who is ill, frail, disabled, has a mental health concern or problematic substance use and who could not manage without that help. A young carer (under 18) or young adult carer (18-25) is someone whose life is restricted because of the need to take responsibility for a family member due to issues as above. The care they provide is unpaid.

Our Story

The Centre was started with a small group of people with MS discussing the possible benefits of the then new treatment called "Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy". This was followed soon after with the formation of H.O.P.E. (the acronym stood for "Hyperbaric Oxygen Pembrokeshire Endeavour"), as a local registered Charity. After some two years spent raising the necessary funds, the Centre started operations on the 6th January 1986 and Oxygen Therapy was at last available to local people with MS. Since that time the Charity has expanded its area of benefit to include people with other neurological conditions, such as Stroke and is now providing both Barochamber Oxygen Therapy and Physical Therapy to our Members. We charge a modest annual membership and our treatments are accessible and affordable. We try hard to create a welcoming, relaxed and sociable environment in our Centre for all to meet. Our Members and their family, friends and carers are always welcome.

We no longer use the acronym but the HOPE Centre is still all about, and for, its Members.

Over the years we have enjoyed very generous funding from people in all walks of life, from major companies, businesses, retail groups, other charities, the public, children and a real "lifeline" of monies from collection boxes. Without this continued revenue stream we would cease to exist as we are today. We thank all the very generous people of Pembrokeshire and all our Friends of HOPE worldwide.
