We did it!!!

Today is World Cancer Day and I thought what better day to celebrate what we have accomplished with 💙

Back in November my mum and I headed to London to speak with MP’s about raising awareness of Ovarian Cancer and how women should be informed during their cervical screening that it does not screen for Ovarian cancer. We also wanted to make women aware of the signs and symptoms that often go unnoticed or disguised.

I shared my story about smear tests and how important it is that women know what they are being screened for and also with gaps between screenings being so much longer now it is so important that women get all the information they need and do not feel lost in this process.

I am so happy to say that following years of campaigning from , the NHS cervical screening guide in England has been updated to clearly state that cervical screening does not detect ovarian cancer. I am so grateful to be part of this campaign to make this happen and hopefully this information will help women all over the country💜

My smear test went viral and now we are off to parliament!!!

My mum and I were interviewed for an article with about the importance of information in smear tests and how the doctors should share symptoms of ovarian cancer and inform patients that a smear does not test for this. In my mums interview she spoke about her experience with ovarian cancer and how I was going for my smear test and was going to talk to the doctors about this and it lead to us being shared all over facebook and hundreds of people writing to their mp about this.

The amazing response has meant that a letter signed by 33 mps, calling for further improvements on cervical screening information, will be formally handed in next week at the Department of Health. My mum and I will be attending and meeting mps to discuss this important issue. I am so honoured to be part of this very important women’s health issue 🫶🏻

We also participated in ovar-dressed in Regents park in London a couple of weeks ago. This was to fundraise for Target Ovarian Cancer, an incredible charity supporting those affected by Ovarian Cancer and making a real change 💙💜

Have you ever thought about syncing your movement to your cycle? 🏃‍♀️🏊🏻‍♀️🧘🏼‍♀️

-Throughout our cycle, as our hormones fluctuate, our energy does too. This can mean we feel stronger at certain times and seek more restorative movement at other times.

-Syncing our movement to our cycle can help keep our body at ease and reduce stress levels. This can in turn help improve our menstrual cycle and reduce PMS symptoms.

- In our menstrual phase our body seeks slow movement like walks and restorative yoga flows

- In our follicular phase we start to regain energy and seek more energetic forms of movement like running and cardio

-In our ovulation phase our energy peaks and we feel the most strong so this is a good time for weightlifting and HIIT

-In our luteal phase our energy suddenly dips and we begin to seek less cardio and prefer movement like yoga and pilates
