Phone, Float & Throw Water Safety Campaign
If we see someone in trouble in the water, our instinct can often be to jump in to try and save them. But entering the water yourselves is dangerous and can put you at risk of drowning too.

Instead, if you see someone in trouble, remember Phone Float Throw.
Phone 999 to get help
Tell the person in the water to stay calm and float on their back
Throw rescue equipment to help them float until emergency services arrive
This message is important year-round, but especially now as warmer weather encourages more children and young people to play near open water.

The safest cot for a baby is a clear cot. That means removing anything that isn’t essential, including toys and teddies.

Babies need just two items in their cot:

1. A firm, flat, waterproof mattress.
2. Lightweight bedding or a sleeping bag.

It’s important to remove anything that isn’t essential because items such as toys, blankets and bumpers could cover their face and obstruct their breathing.

ā˜€ļø Sun Awareness Week | 11–17 May ā˜€ļø
Children’s skin is more delicate than adults’ and can burn easily — even on cloudy days.
Help keep children sun safe by:
🧓 Using SPF 30+ sunscreen
🧢 Wearing hats and sunglasses
šŸ‘• Covering up and seeking shade between 11am–3pm
šŸ’§ Keeping them well hydrated
It’s never too early to build good sun‑safety habits. Babies under 6 months should stay out of direct sunlight.
