Today I found myself standing quietly at my mum’s grave, laying flowers for the first Mother’s Day since she passed.
There was tenderness in that moment. Grief… but also gratitude.
And it reminded me that Mother’s Day carries many different feelings for many of us.
Some of us are mothers.
Some of us have lost our mothers.
Some are longing to become mothers.
Some are healing our relationship with the idea of mothering altogether.
But beyond the role itself, there is something deeper.
There is a mothering energy that lives in every women; the instinct to nurture, to listen, to hold space, to gather people together and create warmth.
It’s the friend who checks in and there have been several kind souls who havedone that for me today.
It's the woman who sits beside you when life feels heavy.
The one who creates a safe space where people can breathe again.
Tomorrow evening Mary and I are holding a small Mother’s Day Gathering at Robin Rose Bakes. A gentle space to pause, receive and honour that nurturing energy in ourselves and one another.
A morning of warmth, sound and nourishment of love.
If today has felt joyful, tender, complicated or somewhere in between, you are so welcome to come and sit with us.
There are still a few spaces available.
