No matter how broken things are, you can always find a way to rebuild 💙

I saw this on a post from another group, and thought it was such an inspiring image to share. Whatever difficulty we may be struggling with, physical, mental or emotional, we have the option to change our point of focus and move forwards positively.

This made me giggle, and every giggle helps right now

Here’s to 2021.....
When Corona is a just a beer again
When Donald is only a duck
When tiers sit on a cake
And when bubbles only exist in champagne 🥂

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎄

Touch has a physical and perceptual component.

The physical is the sensation of mechanical force.

What you perceive is heavily weighted on a previous event.

No 2 people have the same perception of an event.

If a client has had a previous therapy experience where their pain was not resolved, it makes it much more challenging for you to change their mind.

Therapy is as much about positive therapeutic dialogue as it is with the skilled touch of your hands.

As with many issues, pain is multi-factorial and responds best to a holistic approach which, considers the individual and not just the ‘condition’😊

But it can feel like a car. You can "upgrade" your muscles and joints and tissues by working out. This will make your tissues stronger and more resilient.
When your artery is not working well, you can get it repaired. You can get a new knee and a new hip.
Only with pain, it's a bit more different.
Pain does not always shows you that there is something wrong or damaged.
People have pain in their foot, that is not their anymore after an amputation.
Pain is very complex. Much more complex than the simple car metaphor. Especially chronic, or persistent pain. Most of the time, not the hardware but the software is not working so well.
So the brain and nervous system and all kinds of other systems in your body are not in balance anymore.
Your thoughts, beliefs, habits, they way you cope with stress, lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, exercise are all very important for having a healthy body and mind and soul.
The good thing is that there are a lot of things and activities you can do to help the "software". These things can calm your system down and perhaps reduce the pain and increase your activities in your daily life that you have been avoiding because of your pain.
These possible things are exercise, mindfulness, yoga, being in nature, having good social dynamics, working on your inner self, having discipline and doing things you love, have good sleep hygiene, etc. Best is to do this together with a physical therapist or a lifestyle- or pain coach, so you have a partner who can help you.
What do you think of this?
