Hello There,
Don't know about you,but I've always got a song on my mind & I often find myself humming. A lot of us do (right?). But did you know that humming actually calms you down?

How come?

Pause those Thoughts: Have you noticed that when you hum, your mind takes a little break?

Endorphins : Humming releases happy endorphins and widens your blood vessels with nitric oxide. This creates space between your spiraling thoughts and your nervous system. So, if you're feeling anxious it can help.

Good Vibrations : When you hum, your whole body vibrates—including your brain! It’s like a gentle massage for your mind. Have a go.

Don't feel self conscious....Enjoy & Let go!

Another way to hum your cares away:
Find a quiet corner or a sunny spot ( yes there is some sun today in Lincolnshire!)
Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let the hum emerge.
Feel the vibrations in your chest, your throat, and even your fingertips. A good hum feels sooooo good!
Let the worries melt away as you create your own little melody.

We all need to step away from the chaos sometimes. Oh & this tip will cost you nothing. It's free!

Let's get humming.....What song are you going to hum today? Share those humming moments.....I'd love to hear you
(My dog Jinny is looking worried.....think the noise is disturbing her zzzzzzz)

I help adults - yes just like YOU.

Sometimes, life throws curveballs, and we find ourselves tangled in emotions, thoughts, and uncertainties. That's where counselling comes in—a safe space to explore, heal, and grow.

Now is a perfect time to prioritise your wellbeing. The hustle and bustle of summer can leave us feeling worn out. Sound like you?

Perhaps you’ve been carrying a heavy load, and now you’re ready to unpack it gently, piece by piece. I could help

I bet you’ve been putting everybody else first (I'm right aren't I?). Isn't it now your turn to receive support?

What Counselling Can Offer:

A Listening Ear: I'll meet you with compassion. No judgement. I'll sit with you, no matter how dark or mixed up your feelings are.

Guidance: Together, we’ll explore your emotions, find clarity, and create a path forward for you. Sound good?

Empowerment: You’ll discover useful tools to help you navigate life’s twists and turns.

Go on - do reach out. Send me an email, a text, or make that call. You don’t have to carry this all alone. I'm Here to Help!

Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

A client sent me this poem as a thank you.

Today I said “I’m fine”, not once
But five times altogether
When people asked “how are you?”
Then made small talk of the weather

And so I hid behind my mask
The one I’d worn a while
I set in place my bravest face
And dressed it with a smile

And that was how the day went
All “I’m fine” and talk of rain
Until somebody asked me how I was
Then asked again

They asked if I was truly fine
And I said I was not
And they said they were sorry
That they couldn’t do a lot

But then they sat beside me
Whilst I spoke the truth at last
They listened and they held me
As the tears slipped through my mask

And where before, I’d felt I should
Maintain this brave façade,
I realised there was much to gain
By letting down my guard

See, though my load was still the same
It now was not as heavy
‘Cause sitting and offloading it
Had helped a bit already

Today they asked “how are you?”
And I told them I was fine
‘Til someone saw behind the mask
And asked me one more time

And though they may have felt
That there was little they could do
They’ll never know how much it meant
To tell someone the truth

Many parents who experience pregnancy loss at a later stage notice a change in their baby’s movements. Parents have told us that advice isn’t always clear about when to get help.

That’s why we are asking bereaved parents how conversations around babies’ movements could be improved. We will make sure parents’ voices are heard by those with the power to make change 🎙️

If you were pregnant after 2016, the research team would like to hear from you. You’d be helping support safer pregnancy, and reduce pregnancy loss and baby deaths.

💙🧡 We know it can be hard to talk about the time around your baby’s death. Support will be available during and after the focus groups, and you can step away or stop at any point.

For bereaved parents who were pregnant before 2016, you can still get support from us, and we invite you to connect with others in our community.

Hello, I'm a Therapeutic Counsellor from Lincolnshire. I offer online counselling to adults over 18 throughout the UK.

Online counselling is a fantastic way to receive therapy. Here's some convincing reasons why:

• It's Effective: A large NHS study confirms it's just as highly effective as face-to-face counselling, particularly for anxiety and depression. You can have every confidence.
• Ease & Flexibility: You choose where – it can be anywhere provided you feel private, safe & comfortable. Great for those who may feel very anxious in a more formal setting.
• No Travel- Saves battling through traffic; saves Money; saves Time.
• Accessible /More choice: Breaks down the barriers for those where geography, transport or mobility issues may prevent them from seeking therapy. You get the therapist of your choice rather than only those in your near locality.
• Consistency/Reassurance: For those with busy lives (that’s most of us, right?), online therapy ensures we can have regular sessions. It avoids unnecessary cancellations when those unforeseen situations crop up.

I am so pleased to be able to share this post with you & would love anybody local (or further away if you wish to travel) to experience this day. I went on Sunday. Have to be honest, it was a last minute booking & I thought it may be fun,but WOW it far surpassed my expectations. In case you're wondering...this day is for anybody (not just therapists).

We carry our younger self with us day-to-day, this younger self often coming out in response to our feelings and emotions.
When we are feeling happy and life is going well, that child within may see the awe and wonder in the world around us.

If, however, we are faced with life's challenges that inner child can present itself in other ways, responding to feelings on rejection and hurt.
Therefore it is vital that we nurture and heal our inner child, allowing them to express themselves safely, to be creative, and to play.

This is why I am running this one-day workshop: Reconnect to your Inner Child
During the day you will get the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that will assist both your body and mind to shift into these uplifting feelings and sensations, helping you to connect to the awe and wonder of everyday life.

There will be a light lunch provided during the day.

When: Sunday 15th September 2024
Where: The Old School, Nettleham, LN2 2PE
Time: 10am-4pm
Cost: £99
EARLY BIRD PRICE OF £79 if paid for by 25/08/24

In this episode I talk about stress and one of, if not THE, most important concept I need my clients to understand…the Stress Bucket 🪣! I also explain how you can empty your Stress Bucket, and I mention a link during this episode to my relaxation MP3, which is here: https://on.soundcloud.com/W7...

People often ask me whether Jinny is a therapy dog. Well, she certainly thinks she is! She's never far away when I'm doing an online session & if I don't invite her in there's a telltale scratch at the door....let me in!!

A few years ago I did think of training her up to be an official therapy dog. I took her into work for a trial run with some face to face clients. Oh dear,it didn't go to plan. I believe my lovely clients deserve to be the main focus for the 50 minutes they're with me. Clients really loved her cheeky ways, but let's say I found her a little distracting. Enough said!

The beauty of online therapy for my clients is that they can have their own pets in the room with them. Quite often I'll see a flash of fur coming in front of the screen,or hear a contented purrr as a client strokes a cat on their knee. It all goes to make a more relaxed environment for clients to talk about the things that are bothering them. I encourage this.

These days a more mature Jinny is content to sleep or listen in to the sessions. Not sure whether she was making a comment yesterday, but there was an extremely loud belch 😂

This song always reminds me of my lovely counselling chum who died. It was played at her funeral & although we were sad to lose her, everybody was tapping their feet to the music. Music can have that effect of lifting us

Do I have a magic wand? Wouldn't that be fun! Oh, but sorry to disappoint, I really can't pretend to have special powers.

This may surprise you, but YOU are the expert on you. Ok you may be feeling stuck right now, but I bet you know what hurts. I'd like to hear you.

Let me help you explore & make sense of what's going on. Yes, It is hard work, but it's well worth sticking around. I won't wade in, tell you what to do & solve everything for you. I'll use my skills rather more subtly to EMPOWER YOU to discover your OWN SOLUTION

I share some wonderful eureka & lightbulb moments with clients. Those times when clients feel they've cracked it & can move forward.
Now that's MAGIC!

If you're thinking of having some counselling why not get in touch. I'd love to hear from you
