Research reading ๐๐จโ๐ป
Hi Team,
It's been a while since I've last posted, finishing up my degree and generally not being very 'good' at social media are two of my best excuses ๐
Just wanted to post an interesting bit of research I came across the other day that could help to inform treatment offered.
The paper is a few years old now but had some (good points and some not so good as with most research). Link to the paper below
Findings of the paper essentially showed that sports massage 1. Quickened recovery 2. Improves muscle efficiency 3. May be viable for treating muscle soreness.
Positive paper points โ
๐ดElement of randomisation in the study -reducing the risk of bais
๐ดUse of a control group - for comparison of results
๐ดRelevant outcome measures used - VAS for pain
Negative paper points โ๏ธ
๐ด Small sample size (29) - applicability to wider population ?
๐ดWomen participants only - applicability to other genders ?
๐ด Athlete participants used - applicability to people exercising non maximally ?
